The final two of first three seasons each had a younger contestant vs an older contestant. Ethan beating Kim was the first time that the younger contestant won. It was like the opposite of the previous season (Australian Outback), in which Tina beat Colby.

Ethan was and is iconic. Everyone knew him. This (season 3) was the last season when Survivor was at the forefront of American pop culture. The winners were stars.

Ethan was the first person whom I was happy to see win. I remember cheering along with him (I was 12 years old at the time. I don't especially like Richard Hatch, but he nonetheless had a huge impact on how to play Survivor, so now that I'm older I can appreciate him more. As far as Tina Wesson goes, she seems like a wonderful person IRL, but I was rooting for Colby.
