I found it hard to deal with other people's emotions when I had cancer. A friend told me that they kept waiting for me to cry. I didn't cry because I was too focused on doing what I could because my oldest child was 9.

I actually would rather cancer not be mentioned at all in conversation...albeit positive. I could be having a total outrageously awesome day and run into someone who may say something to me from the “what to say list” and it brings me right into the world that I may be experiencing some freedom from at that moment. I feel singled out and different. My favorite is “Hey Donelle, it’s so good to see you. I’m so happy l ran into you today.”..or something to that effect. That is empowering for me because it is a normal thing to say when you see someone. I feel my best when I am treated and talked to like anyone else. 🌺🥰

Always enjoy your videos, Jelena, thanks for sharing! The one I really hate is:"Oh, that's OK, your hair will grow back." That doesn't help me NOW, when my head is freezing under my scarf, cap or wig, or that most people assume scarves are something religious, that they themselves don't get stared at every day, especially on days where one just wants to blend in, etc.

Thank you so much, I have heard most on both lists. I have advanced cancer and heard 2 more that do not feel good 1. You are strong and you’ve got this. - this is not a challenge I signed up for and I feel drained not strong and my prognosis is uncertain. 2. At least you know and can prepare ( for my death) . I think that goes with the at least but leaves me especially speechless.
