@@virgilflowers9846 Love to hear that! He really speaks to the side of me that doesn't want my anxiety to increase. I'm SUPER into Stroud because I really do credit him for changing the way I think. Literally within the last few days I was telling someone about Zones 1/2/3 and how, for me, that applies to mental wellness and seeking actionable steps. I truly believe the world is better for Les Stroud being in it and consider myself incredibly fortunate to know of him. He's what happens when you live your calling. 🥰

To expand on the "holding the branch" tidbit. If you're in real rough bush, and need to crouch under branches, and you're in a line, just call it out. Simply state clearly that there's a possible face/eye hazard. It's especially helpful when everyone is watching their feet due to the rough terrain, or if you have people who aren't used to watching their surroundings carefully. Great video, Les. You're a legend.

It is interesting when you ask Logan how he feels about the boat tent, he isn't passive and gives his opinion, but you insist on trying your way. I imagine it can be difficult to feel confident in making a decision when your father is an expert in the way you are. Kudos to you for looking back on it and seeing how you could've done it differently. Thank you for doing these directors commentaries.

I don't do much freshwater fishing but you definitely find plenty of stuff along the coast left behind by campers and anglers. Hammocks, ropes, tent pegs, empty cans, bottles, I even found a shovel once that I kept and still use a little more than 20 years later(I've replaced the handle a few times). As a hiker, I have a "leave nothing but footprints" attitude to nature.

You are an inspiration my man.. I live in BC . Penticton is my home base for the last 6 years. Quesnel,,, Loon Lake,, Kamloops etc in the past. I have found, and packed out so much crap from other people it is sad. We actually, cut our stay short so we could make multiple trips out of the bush with garbage. We even found melted dolls, impaled with big nails on trees. I just really have a hard time understanding the thought prosses of these people when they make that decision to leave ALL THEIR GARBAGE behind, in the most pristine place on earth. Like really?? It was very hard to just get to this place.. What are they actually thinking , and how do they process that ? Like ,,, Its ok,, We will just leave all our garbage in this beautiful place, and it will be just fine.. Like really? If anyone reads this who does these things,, please understand that you are not worthy of the place you defiled. There should be a law that would BAN you for life from EVER going into the wilderness again. Plain and simple,, you are a piece of Poop. Wasting the air you breath!! Sorry for the rant.... Love you Les!! You my friend,,,,,,, ROCK!!

My aunt was attacked by a Kodiak bear a few years ago and managed to survive with only large bruises. It was the one day she went out without her bearspray, and thankfully her dogs were able to chase off the bear and also survived. What happened was that there was a couple hiking further down the trail, and the bear tried to run from them. Then he ran into my aunt and attacked probably because it was scared and felt trapped. She doesn't blame the bear since it was just living its life and it just happened to be bad timing.

There is a way to separate the ribs from the fillet of a pike just in the cleaning processes. Learned it in 2009 while fishing near Cave Lake in Nevada. Another lake near there was full of invasive pike even after fish & game had poisoned the lake off three times. After cleaning, we simply made nuggets, rolled them in some cornmeal, and pan fried them. I’ve never had a more delicious piece of fish in my life before or since. Purely wild fish. Flesh just melts like butter when cooked right, and it’s so mild. I honestly feel sorry for people who think walleye tastes better… they’ve clearly either never tried pike before or had pike cut and cooked poorly. Baked, grilled, fried, even poached… northern pike just simply cannot be beat for me. I’ve had a LOT of wild, non-hatchery fish in my life, fresh water and ocean caught both here in the US and overseas… still never found an equal to the pike that night at the Cave Lake Campground, cleaned and cooked by John Wayne Boothe-if you somehow read this by chance, John, I’m always hoping to cross paths again!
