Whenever I'm having an especially hard time in this life, I ask God , "Please remove anything that binds me, and keep me in a vibration of Love and Gratitude." In that moment, I find myself coming back to the Cowsills . Their music literally kept me alive, at a very young age. Thank you Bob, Paul, John, Sue. Missing you Bill, Rich and Barry ~love and light to you~

I don't know, mixed emotions here. My heart is warmed by watching the clips of this family of siblings who clearly love each other and survived and endured through what no child should have to endure. My admiration for these people just grows with every interview I see, and every new song I hear. I have yet to see the complete documentary, but the clips I have seen so far says so much about these brothers and sister (how blessed was Susan to have so many amazing brothers who loved and took good care of her?). How sad, though, that three of those brothers are no longer here. In a few videos, It was so sweet to see Richard finally get his proper place in the band. How so, so horrible that Barry and Bill passed passed within just a few months of each other. I was watching an interview with John, and for a moment the grief he still held for Barry surfaced, it broke my heart to see John well up for his brother. Susan, thank you for bringing Paul, Bob, and John together for this tribute to Barry, it was beautiful!

Sadly, this incredibly talented family band never received the wide recognition it deserved during their early years and meteoric rise to fleeting stardom. Written off by many as a "bubblegum group" or "one hit wonder" band, their longevity and talents were not realized by many in mainstream music until years later. They were incredibly gifted 50 years ago as teens and have matured into even more amazing musicians today. What an amazing gene pool they were blessed with!!!! I strongly recommend checking out the video " Family Band:The Cowsills Story" on Amazon Prime Video or you can also buy the DVD. It shows the band's history and how music and love kept them united despite an abusive, alcoholic dad who mismanaged their money and talent (he fired his own son Bill who was the inspiration/mentor of the siblings over smoking pot!!!!) leaving them awash in debt after their subsequent breakup. Check out their other videos on KZbin also as Susan describes how she "co-wrote" a song with her deceased brother Barry ("Round the Bend") who stayed in New Orleans to ride out Katrina only to perish in the flooding. And only one day after finding his body, tragedy struck again as Bill Cowsill died in Canada from medical issues that had been plaguing him for some years. " Besides their incredible musical talents, one thing stands out in the documentary, their music videos and other film footage through the years. These siblings truly loved each other very much growing up and still do to this day. You can see it in their body language, their demeanors and conversations. A great band and truly survivors who have not allowed their past/present hardships stop their love of music and more importantly; their love of each other. God Bless these beautiful souls!!!! Kudos and a huge thank you to Louise Palanker for uploading these videos as well as directing the documentary of this very gifted family band.

@@louisepalanker Hey, thank you for posting it, Louise. I've always loved a few of the Cowsills' songs, particularly "The Rain, the Park, & Other Things." Of course, who doesn't love that one? I've enjoyed finding live versions now and again on KZbin. On one on playing, "River of Love" showed up in the right rail, so I listened. I tried to download Susan's Lighthouse CD but it's not available at Apple. However, I did get Barry Cowsill's original version. You can always tell music that's written from the heart.
