I can`t explain the importance of this work. I have the only ketogenic website in Brazil, I`m a nutritional advisor (Noakes Foundation) and I get oh so many parents asking me about autism and ketogenic diet. Masino`s work must be known worldwide. I wish there were some way of crowdfunding studies. I`m pretty pretty sure parents would help this cause. I`d be glad to help sharing the effort. Thank you so much, Masino. We`ll be following your work here, in Brazil.

Keto increased my quality of life....

Here's a lightweight article that acknowledges that a molecule of a certain saturated fat, palmitic acid, (the one that allegedly causes heart disease, now thoroughly debunked) yields 130 molecules of ATP. On the other hand, a molecule of glucose only yields 36 to 38 molecules of ATP. So, palmitic acid has slightly more than twice the calories, yet yields slightly more than three times the ATP. There is just no doubt which is the better fuel source. Note: observe how glucose-centric this (presumably current) mainstream article is. healthyeating.sfgate.com/gives-energy-per-gram-fat-protein-carbohydrates-8319.html

It makes sense to me that a ketogenic diet would be helpful for adenosine. Fat is a much richer source of ATP than glucose. The limitation of fat is how rapidly it can be uptaken into the cell during extreme physical exertion _ physical activity at or above 80 - 85% of VO2 max. Another vexing problem of the fear of fat that was generated over the last 50 years was the promotion of glucose, over fat, as the optimal fuel source for all forms of exercise. And if people couldn't lose weight on their glucose-promoting diets, they were not exercising long enough or hard enough. Exercise like an Olympic endurance athlete. Now we know we should exercise like an Olympic track athlete - HIIT. And no need for high volume or high repetitions. Stress those mitochondria briefly and metabolic health is improved immediately.

You lost me as soon as you said that the brain evolved. Sorry, but after that all credibility was lost.

She is so chubby 🤔 to me if person advocates diet, first thing I look at - their body, their face and she looks so overweight

Seriously? Did you listen to this presentation? She wasn't talking about diet and weight!! It's about diet and brain function in regards to epilepsy and autism. I watched the whole presentation and not once did I think she was "overweight". Some people are naturally big, her body is not visible from the chest down, you cannot judge someone's weight by their face. This woman is a scientist doing important work and all you see is her weight ... so superficial. smh. I have a feeling that the one thumbs down is from you.
