Like so many of us, I feel this young man’s pain. I was a healthy woman, a runner until I was injured at work over two years ago. Now I am in constant pain, lost all contact with family and friends. The VA is an entirely government run system. It’s also had reforms and is able to negotiate lower drug costs. In the case of UnitedHealth they have a record of denying 38% of their claims. And they are proud of that. So that’s 38% of people who pay for insurance through United Health who are denied coverage for necessary healthcare despite having paid for said insurance. Those people often go on to die, or live in incredible pain, or leave their entire family in medical debt. There is no defense for this system that allows people to die while investors profit. Insurance companies and their investor’s are leeching off the system and responsible for the inflated healthcare costs Americans pay. By tying healthcare insurance to employment US businesses have to pay more for employees making it difficult to compete globally. US workers are priced out of the job market and work is sent overseas. Millions of Americans are left uncovered and dependent on relatives with access to insurance. This leaves people locked into jobs that don’t pay well and relationships that are unhealthy and sometimes dangerous. All of these things would be solved by Medicare for All. Remove the insurance industry from the equation.

This isn't about left or right or what I believe in as a system of government. This is about the fact that anyone could go through the same thing because of unethical policies. Let me tell you something else. I work for a company that deals with insurance. And they have a policy of full, comprehensive payment because their CEO has ethics, and I admire and care for him a lot!

This case is ripe for jury nullification. It will entirely depend on the skill of his defense attorney. This is for sure one of those cases where the style of attorney will matter. If he gets a typical court appointed defense attorney, that person is likely to be not skilled enough to mount a nullification defense. He's going to need big bucks to get a truly skilled attorney. Jury nullification has a storied history in American court room dramas.

That’s our problem in our country. Our insurance goes for all illegals and refugees but not our self. Charities should go to our own people first. I lost everything that I had because of medical issues and not be able to work but our STUPID government brings all people from everywhere with free insurance and food stamps and housing. This fight against extradition by Mangione is a fight that this kid will eventually lose. The governor's warrant is most likely already drafted and filled out and signed just waiting to be submitted. And, I would not be surprised in the least if Mangione's legal team with the help of his family eventually files a plea of "not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect" either. However, what is most insane about what Mangione did to Brian Thompson is that our incoming president will still get rid of Obama Care along with Medical and Medicare and not care about incidents like Mangione's taking place throughout this country.
