Suspected Trump PA Shooter: White Male, ATF Running Emergency Gun Trace

Donald Trump appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt as he spoke during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, two law enforcement officials said. The former president, his ear covered in blood from what he said was a gunshot, was quickly pulled away by Secret Service agents and his campaign said he was “fine.”
A local prosecutor said the suspected gunman and at least one attendee are dead. The Secret Service said two spectators were critically injured.

Yes and no. When a dealer goes out of business, they have to send all their records to the atf. The ATF has been digitizing them into a database, which is illegal. On several occasions, Congress has ordered them to stop, but they tend to ignore that. All firearms that have been sold by dealers that are still in business are not in that registry.

Retired law enforcement/supervisor/firearms instructor speaking here. Why was the high ground around the event not controlled by SS, FBI, local police, state police, and county sheriff? A basic AR15/M4 Rifle has a 660-yard reach with standard factory iron sights for area targets. The shots from the suspected sniper were 148 yards according to the news (assuming he/she used the same type of weapon system) . I have been in a city where President Bush visited. Secret Service came days in advance to scout the surrounding area to decide where to place agents/officers for tactical advantage. The Lee Harvey Oswald to JFK Shots (3 shots) were made at 75 yards on November 22, 1963, with a scoped bolt action rifle in an elevated position. You would think that the SS would have learned by now. I don't get it. WTF?
