Everyone is just giving C as root note (white key) as an example. But what if the root note is sharp or flat (black key)? I can't find where the suspended chord is.

ficou convencionado que sus2 ou sus4 significa acorde suspenso. porém, suspenso é quando sobe, e até faria sentido no caso da terça para a quarta, e não para a segunda que desce. Na verdade o termo sus vem do substituir a terça que em linguas latinas como o italianos significa "sostituire". Resumindo, sus2 significa substituir a terça pela segunda e sus4 significa substituir a terça pela quarta e nâo suspender.
