Hey Will, thinking about installing on my Chevy 2500 Duramax as well. I Hotshot and pull Gooseneck flatbed, my wife complains when I have the trailer hooked up. Says it’s a rough/shaky ride in the back. Will it smoothen that it out quite a bit?

@@mohammadchowdhury3843 Hello, I have Timbrens for the load, Roadmaster for the comfort. But the Roadmaster will make you love your truck again! Roadmaster gives less axle wrap, more ground clearance, (sagging springs are inevitable.)

Great video, thanks. Why did you place the bolt in the second hole and not the first?

I'll add to that -- RAS says that using the second or even third hole increases the strength of the system a bit *IF* that little bit of extra bracket hanging off the end doesn't interfere with anything.

Thanks! I pulled my trailer about 3 hours this past weekend and noticed a big difference. I am still working on a video where I hook up a little Bluetooth sensor that shows movement in the rear of the truck. I still have to go film the "after" here in the next few days. It should show how well it actually works or not.

Awesome video, why the bolt in-the second hole on the part that goes under the leaf spring

If you can fit it in the other hole, that's fine too. I think RAS uses that same part for a handful of truck models.

For my 2014 Tundra; the RAS installation required me to remove 2 nuts holding a bracket onto the eye of the back leafspring so I could slide the RAS onto the leafspring eye. Then I had to put bracket back on and retighten 2 nuts to around 77ft/lbs. The RAS for the tundra came with some spacers for the part that connects under the leafspring by the axle. The tricky part was getting those leafspring eye brackets off. I had to lift the rear differential back up some to release leafspring strain on the brackets to get them off; while using a prybar. Just letting the rear differential hang was adding too much stress to the leafsprings and rear brackets. There was 'sweet spot' for releasing tension on leafsprings which released tension on the rear leafspring brackets. Also when adjusting the coils to slip in that black disc, I think I allowed more movement of the disc to slide through the coils, than you showed in your video. So mine are probably past 40%..maybe 50%?. I used two socket wrenches to increase RAS spring tension - one at the bottom near the center of leafspring where it meets the axle and one at the top of RAS- big bolts near the rear leafspring eyes. Also I held the rear differential up just slightly for support. Direction said 1/2" up, but I let the rear diff hang and "just" touch it with the floor jack for support. Anyway the truck feels so much better. No trailer hookup yet. But without the hookup the truck has less body sway/roll around corners and bumps are much less felt in the rear of truck. Still feel them in the front however, but that would require suspension mods to the front of the vehicle, too. Also I think rear is lifted up almost 2 inches more than before, but it looks good. Great video, btw and channel. *Cincinnati and that part of Ohio are familiar stomping grounds years ago.

Great video again. I thought I would share some experiences I just had with RV suspension, the blueox, and the Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS) component all working together. The short of it is the Blue Ox SwayPro works great on our Grand Design 297 QB. I had opted for some Firestone air airbags on my 2016 F150 FX4 Lariat and unfortunately the Roadmaster Active Suspension system does not work with the airbags physically because they do not fit over the airbag brackets. If I had to choose the better option I would choose the RAS over the airbags now. If my airbags fail at some point I will transition to the RAS, or whatever they have that is equal to or better than at that time.

Great video Andy GTGF ! I really liked how you clearly demonstrated the 1mm and 2mm adjustment procedure. Best practice suggestion/questions?: At 9:28 would you or Roadmaster recommend to put a little thread locker like Loctite red 2701 on the threads? Follow up with a little corrosion/rust inhibitor? Temperature, Pressure, and Vibration concerns always makes me obsess over the little things to ensure a enduring solution. Now, please lead us with to your review while your camping/RV trailer towing with Roadmaster Active Suspension.

I thought the same thing about the Loctite but the RAS instructions say not to do that. Thanks for the feedback!

Another great video. A couple of questions for you. First question, why did you select the second hole on the shackle at the front of the roadmaster as opposed to the other holes? Second question, I have installed firestone air suspension and will also be towing a 30 foot trailer with the blueox SwayPro system, will this interfere with any of that? I have the max tow package on my FX4 Lariat (2016) and I’m also wondering if it’s going to interfere with any of that? I have the electronic suspension system in mine. I just don’t want to cause it to be overcompensating.
@GoTogetherGoFar
@GoTogetherGoFar 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I can speak to how the electronic suspension system will react. I don't have that on my truck. Sounds like you have a lot going on with your suspension. I'd probably have to refer you to Roadmaster. As far as the hole I selected, I just picked the one that would require me to have to tighten the least. Either one would work fine.

So I didn’t catch “why” you had or wanted to do this. Was pulling the Salem a problem? I ask because I drove a F150 Fx2 with our Salem and there were times where I thought it was “too much”
@GoTogetherGoFar
@GoTogetherGoFar 4 жыл бұрын
I think it was more of a want than a need. After the last adjustment I did on my BlueOx SwayPro, I didn't have much, if any sway. While my Salem is fairly light, it is long and I can really feel a crosswind at times. I thought the RAS might help.

@@GoTogetherGoFar gotcha. We upgraded our truck and a lot (if not all) concern disappeared. Though there are times I’ve considered making tweaks to make things “better”. Which at this point is negligible and prolly similar to you. 99% good, but I could make it 99.1% 😂

There is no mention of why there are so many holes for spacer bolt and which holes to use ?
@GoTogetherGoFar
@GoTogetherGoFar 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure. If I were to guess, I would guess that the correct spacer hole depends on the make and model of the truck you're putting it on. I think they try to make the parts as universal as possible.
@brogan56
@brogan56 3 жыл бұрын
You want the axis of the RAS to be balanced with the axle. You can certainly use the last or furthest bolt hole but it will work better if you set it up for your particular application. I've seen a video on here about the setup but it's bad form to link another channel's content to this one.

If it raises the back end up by an inch did you adjust your ball height back down to level the trailer back out or did you keep it the same?
