From about 6 minutes into this clip you can see how he believed in her, and knew she wasn't a little girl any more. He asked of her to do something that she was so afraid to do, and yet had faith in her that she could do it. How they could portray her character as being weak, or for anyone in the audience to insinuate she was weak, just needs to take a look at this clip.

I had a conversation with a person in real life who was is coworker who I had no idea watched GH. She never saw this era of GH and she believed all the junk about Laura being weak and needy.. she is really liking Laura circa 2016.. and I told her well THAT is the Laura WE have known all along. She was always strong, spirited, adventurous with vivacity to spare.

I've seen people say the same thing on other plays lists (Robert N Anna) and I tell them to watch the beginning. She was strong, smart and independent. There is no way they can watch from the beginning and say that. Especially the time after this story line and when she & Luke get back together.

When I was posting these live.. there were a bunch of people watching as I was putting them up... .... so I put LO on the "last one" (post) for the night....so they didn't sit there and wait the half hour/hour... or so...whatever it took to get another one edited, posted and then have YT process it...to not have anything else coming for the evening! I didn't want them to waste their time waiting is what it came down to. Just a signal that there wouldn't be any more that evening.

If I can get out of mind those awful rape scenes, and the way luke manipulated laura up to the "escape", then I can enjoy these. they are good together and entertaining, and they do a good job acting like they love each other. But i have to have a lobotomy to get those other scenes out of my mind.

That's because you watched them 2 seconds ago. For those of us who watched in real time... this was a significant amount of time later. The fact that Geary and Francis are amazing together made people wanted to forget, or forgive. The fact that most know this is fiction, and just a story, and re-writes are permitted and done all of the time in daytime drama, along with the time frame... made a lobotomy not necessary for most. Thank goodness because 30 million people needing major brain surgery to watch fictional characters would certainly have put a major stress on the country's medical system!!

I was shocked at the rape but never at the attraction of Luke and Laura and the way the story played out was in the cards from the beginning. There was just no way it wasn't going to happen and we knew it from the beginning.

sussezq I agree about it being easier in real time, as it was months and months before they went on the run. Also, it was evident that Luke's love and Laura's care and attraction were there before that night in the disco. So it was set up well..not to mention these writers were genius to have them wait so long to be together physically. It was like getting a new beginning along with the audience anticipation! No surgery was necessary..lol

Alex Mundy I understand. For me, I'm thankfully that because this was made in 1979 it showed almost nothing of the actual rape scene. So in my imagination what we didn't see of the rape was just the way the writers spinned it off to be after realizing the characters amazing chemistry. Maybe because she had feelings for him she wasn't trying to stop him as much as trying to stop herself because of her vows to Scotty. That's the benefit when they leave some things to your imagination.

@@terricoleman5495 That is incorrect, Bert Ramsey turned Corupt a year after Anna Devane and he were chosen as co-commissioners AFTER Robert resigned and joined Holly in Australia. Robert came back a year later to save Robin & Anna from the MOB that Ramsey was the inside leader . Story line is called MR. B .
