Lmao I used to think the same when I first started using the sustain pedal. But yeah it sounds like too many things are playing at the same time if you hold it down too long

Cool, yes, but not clear. A painting can look cool, while still being messy. And using the sustain pedal constantly will cause the sounds to mush together, and sound cluttered.

Thanks. Is there a performance difference advantage using a Nektar NP-2 pedal versus a Roland DP-2 polarity switch pedal? In the pedal in your video, does it do some work when pressed halfway? I'm asking because the DP-2 is a switch type which is simply ON and OFF. And I wonder if the Nektar NP-2 pedal works differently than a switch polarity pedal.

My pedal does the opposite, whenever I leave it up it makes it sound like how you press down on a pedal. When I press down on my pedal it stops the continuous sound. Easier explanation My pedal: pressed down=not pressed down Not pressed down=pressed down

Electronic keyboard? Some pedals have a two-position switch on the side or bottom to set that behavior. Some keyboards may have their own control menu setting to govern that. Check the settings. Finally, some keyboards auto-set their pedal behavior as you turn them on, meaning you’d have to depress the pedal while powering on for one setting; or leave it untouched as you power on the keyboard for the other setting.
@darlene98073 жыл бұрын

This isn't always correct- it depends upon style- for example the old school Christian hymns have the pedal going down on beats 1 and 3 of common time, and on beat 1 only if in time of 2 or 3. When playing stride or rag the pedal will be down on the bass notes to allow the left hand time to move to grab the chord.

I somehow went through 2 levels of piano as a kid with nobody teaching me to use the pedal (not sure why, but I'm guessing it was because I learned mainly baroque music, which wasn't written for an instrument with a sustain pedal in the first place) and then quit lessons around the time I might have learned it. Here’s a tip! If you are playing high to low (vice versa) notes, its better to use the pedal. Sometimes we forget to use the finger technique for our scales, so we better cover our gaps with the sus. pedal.
