Hey Gittemary, just a quick FYI from a Canadian high school sewing teacher... the ruffles on the edges of your oh-so-cool periwinkle purple sweater are called “lettuce edges” because... (wait for it)... they have the texture of leaf lettuce. 🥬 How vegan-sounding is that? I thought you might enjoy this little trivial fun fact. Great video, thanks for sharing. It’s always entertaining to see your sustainable fashion ideas. ⭐️🌏😍

I think that second-hand letter and silk can be vegan, because It was used, and thrown away in a sense, so it is more vegan to rescue an item, so the death of an animal isn't just thrown away, and it is a more eco-friendly option too. I personally use shoes that my husband finds besides the garbage at the apartment he works in, and I think that that is the most eco-friendly thing we can do! hahaha! Also, it is important that we don't beat up ourselves on things that are the most we can do. The essence of veganism is doing the smallest harm as possible and practicable. We need a lot of imperfectly perfect people to make a change ♥ Thank you for the video

My friend found a vintage mixer from the 1940's that from a cool American company that no longer exists. It came with the complete set of tools at a thrift shop for $10! The cord was extremely degraded and unsafe, but I encouraged him to rewire it. He was able to clean it up and it runs perfectly! I am beyond impressed! He's an out of work chef and is so excited to use it.

I've been thrifting instead of buying fast-fashion for over a year now and this Monday I bought a super cute second hand yellow dress on Vinted. It's an app where people sell second hand clothes 😍 i am getting it sent to me from Barcelona, which is an hour away by train - that means there's not much carbon footprint

Thanks for making this video. I've seen some pro-fast fashion posts around the environmentalist community on social media (?why??) and a fashion influencer I liked recently posted a video saying fast fashion is no big deal. She said it's unfair to "shame" people who "only" have access to fast fashion - as if thrifting doesn't exist? As if it isn't unfair to the people unethically forced to produce fast fashion clothes?? It made me pretty upset. Basically, what I needed was some wholesome, sustainable fashion content so thank you!!

I love your linen crop!! I saw it a few times on your Instagram and have been looking for one whilst thrifting ever since🤭 but now I know you cropped it yourself so it's even cooler! I did find a plaid cotton version at one of the thrift stores I frequent and now I'm obsessed with it!! You are a style icon!

Hi Gittemary, is there any chance you can make a video on jewelry, since you have these amazing rings and I am interested in knowing what to look out for when buying stuff like this. What is the impact of silver and gold and silver coated rings etc? :)

I just got an amazing vintage mens 1990s Hawaiian shirt. Inspired by your recent purchase tho I've always wanted one. It fits oversized on me and is very cool and comfortable in the hot weather. I managed to purchase online tho I prefer to thrift in person and it wasn't cheap but I love it. Cant take it off since it arrived this week. I like to wear it with a thrifted pair of boyfriend denim shorts from H&M which I got last week for only £2.50 brand new with labels.

Hi Athyn... just curious... does your vintage Hawaiian shirt have pineapples on it? I’ll bet it’s really colourful and gives that tropical feel, no matter where you are. Hope you are able to enjoy wearing it a lot in the summer sunshine.

AMAZING video as always girl ✌🏻🌍🌿 Also random tip but you mentioned not liking seeing the fast fashion label on the insoles of shoes... if you use a 70% alcohol rub on the inside (bought mine in bulk to make my own hand sanitiser during these crazy times 🙄) the markings are dulled/removed BOOM!! SO not important really but if it bugs you, handy and ALSO sanitizes the inside of the shoe 😂 so bonus ha! HUGS from UK xx

Wow so I just had the best thrifting week in a long time. I found a glass tea pot with loose leaf infuser and bonus matching cream and sugar set for $5! I also got a dehydrator for $4. So excited to be able to dry foraged mushrooms with less energy than the oven as well as prevent food waste by drying extra produce. I've been hunting for these two items for so long. Just goes to show patience is key. I am an out of work server/bartender so I've been slowly building a bar set with my favorite tools, and finally found a shaker I've been wanting so I can properly make cocktails now. I refuse to buy the sets online because they come with so many unnecessary tools I would never use. I also found super cool rocks glasses that match my set I already have! Why would anyone buy brand new kitchen wares?! It's crazy. There is so much super valuable cookware second hand.

Guppy friend bag. 💚 You need to use liquid detergent with it however so no grains from the powder screw it up apparently and also it's recommended to either use 2 in one washing machine or put some non-plastic-clothes around the bag for better weight balance. I love mine! 💚

Offensive Username It still results in a significant decrease in released micro plastic // there is not such thing is a perfect solution or avoiding it completely, so looking at ways to make sure that way less is released is definitely better than nothing 💪🌿

I understand that buying second-hand is more eco-friendly because you don't generate new waste. But, buying so much does not continue to feed the monster of over-consumption (which is the problem of our planet)? By buying second hand you are generating demand for this type of fashion. Nowadays it is very easy to sell your second hand clothes and this can make people keep buying compulsively, as they know that later they will be able to sell it and recover some of the money. Well, that was just my opinion, maybe it is totally wrong. Anyway, I love your videos!

Thankfully she isn’t thrifting 24/7! This would be true for someone who thrifts ALL THE TIME. Even then, this is still a better option because you are getting use out of a single item and there for nixing a second resource production cycle.
