Hey look around, I found a channel with nothing but microbiology video with commentary. Also there's Meredith's video series specifically on this topic.

I learned about the importance of looking at different fields and how to do so. The objects you are describing could be meatballs, but all in good time. Oh yes, and the use of time and sample comparisons relative to your clay comments. That was very good. Completed viewing 11 29 11

What do you recommend microscope wise for doing soil samples? Also, if one was looking for a geology microscope, is there a particular brand / power you would recommend? Thanks.

I have finally ordered my microscope following your advice. Many thanks. What is the microscope you are using here? I totally agree with the comment below from masrealidadalaire - would it be possible to show a live view occasionally. Kind regards

How do you identify the fields and boundaries of the fields?

The field is 100% of what you see in the microscope without moving the slide. But you can do whatever you prefer. Just stay constant. If you have the image on your computer, you can make it rectangle and it will be easier to calculate the bacteria compare to a round field.
