Sustainiac issue

Got it figured out. The Sustainiac pickup while in it's "normal" mode causes the volume of the D string to be much lower than the rest. Switch the sustainiac on and it's good, no difference, bridge pickup and unplugged, also no difference in volume level between the strings. It's only the Sustainiac while switched off. I did install a brand new battery, but the original battery still had 8.18V which is well within the limits of a 9V battery.

Just with the way you pick the strings, is easy to understand that you are not the person to say if a susteniac works well or not, there are plenty of videos too from people doing amazing things with, that you cant is just a different story.

I thought Schecter had a pretty good customer service, didn't they have answers for this issue ? Sustainiac has been on the market for many years, Or did you contact Sustainiac directly? I was going to pull the purchase on one of these Schecter guitars, But I certainly wouldn't want the issue you have, especially in the middle of a gig , that would absolutely stink. I play at fairly low volumes so I thought that system would be perfect, and the fact that they have been out for many years.

Did you ever get this fixed? What did you get done? I have the same exact guitar and having a similar issue. Bridge pickup sounds fine. Middle position is very quiet across all strings. Neck position sounds fine most of the time. However, they can drastically switch levels of output & act different depending if I mess with the controls or not. I recorded a DI. The wave form was crooked & slanted for the neck & middle positions. The wave form looked fine for the bridge pickup. I read warped waveforms can be a phase issue. Not sure what's going on, but I want to see what you had done.

I have a very similar issue, the pickups all work, but it won't sustain!

Bro that not problem that is normal you can just need change the battery.

You have to open the back in the pot nest where the pick up is and adjust the screws to adjust the driver

Sustaniac not works if the battery is not enough .the all pickup switch is become same all sound.

Recently purchased a schecter with a sustainiac. Gotta say, not a big fan of it as a pickup. Super noisy. And honestly after the first couple days the novelty wore off. Gonna return the guitar and get something with all passive pickups. Switching between a passive and active pickup while only having one volume control is an output nightmare. Love the guitar, but not a fan of the pickup.

I just bougt an Ibanez JS with sustainiac and i have the same issue…. It is more noisy when have the distortion on…. What could i do? With the sustainer on i dont have the issue…. Just when im using the sustainiac as a normal pickup

I'm going to pull everything except the bridge pickup out and keep it all together. The only wires I'll have to cut are the two from the battery compartment and however many from the neck pickup. I'll keep everything as is and remove the circuit board, the output jack, the 3 way switch, everything. I'll have new pots, a new 3 way switch, a new jack, and a new neck pickup. I'm going to use one of the sustainiac switch holes for a coil split and possibly the other for a coil tap although I'm not sure if that's a thing. I love the guitar enough that I'm not going to sell it, I'm just going to make it awesome. I'll bet $100 that in five years, not a single guitar manufacturer will offer a sustainiac pickup. Search KZbin for like "tricks and tips sustainiac" or whatever and nothing comes up. There's not a guitar I've ever played that doesn't sustain 50 times more than I'll ever need it to, so this thing is gonesville. Anyone want to buy it? In order to sell it I'm going to play the guitar then remove everything on video so a buyer will know it works. I've got a brand new SD Pearly Gates that I'll try, just because I have it. And there's a custom pickup guy who made these utterly perfect P90s that I have in a custom Tele, I'm going to have him make a mate to compliment the Lundgren in the bridge. His name is Odezza and his prices are as amazing as his pickups. If you search that in KZbin you'll find my Tele in a video the PO made.

Thank you. How should the bridge polarity be setup? Opposite the neck, right? For single coil pickups I think they set them up RWRP, reverse wound reverse polarity, so that in the middle position they cancel the hum, theoretically. That's how my Odezza P90s are setup, but I have no clue how a dual humbucker is done. Do you like your sustainiac? I see it in your username...

Wow! I just looked at your channel, you're the sustainiac King!! I think one of the biggest problems Schecter is having with people returning these guitars is that there's no owners manual. Nothing. Schecter answered my question writing "they do ship with an owners manual in the box but they get lost all the time". I bought my guitar from Sweetwater, so I'm not sure if I believe that. They did send me an owners manual though, for a Solo which is different! A single page.
