i swear this mans music goes beyond simple sountrack music. theres an absolute mastery to his craft. what he's able to accomplish with the combination of his composition ability and his production capabilities in sound design and use of electronic music is honestly genius. it's composition at its most classic sense and electronic production in perfect unison and i fucking love it. only fitting that a genius artist like him was paired with a fellow genius in satoshi kon.

This world deserved to see what more Satoshi Kon could do with his talent and passion for animated films. It is very sad we could only experience it so much, but at least we have what he left behind to remember him for a long time. Hope you are doing great up there my guy.

How have you not seen it yet?! Watch it! Buy it and watch it! I'm not sure if it's Satoshi Kon's greatest work, but it's definitely one of the best examples of his works. Perfect Blue is probably my favorite film of his; my fiancee bought me a DVD copy to replace my VHS and then watched it with me that night - and she doesn't like anime. A week or so later we watched Tokyo Godfathers, which I had on DVD; I fell asleep because I was tired, but she watched the entire film and liked it (said she even cried at times). I need to get a copy of Millennium Actress and make her watch that -- another beautiful Kon movie. I made her watch Paranoia Agent over 3 days; I never tire of that show. "Magnetic Rose" from the film Memories was the best segment of that film thanks in no small part to Kon's involvement. His short "O-ha-yo" from Ani*kuri 15 is so pointless (like most of the commercial shorts), but it has so much of Kon's charm and creativity crammed into it; I tear up every time I watch it because it was the last thing he completed before he died. I also have his manga "Tropic of the Sea", "Dream Fossil", and "Opus". Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Satoshi Kon's writing and directing. He's also one of the reasons I like Susumu Hirasawa so much, since Satoshi Kon commissioned Hirasawa for Paprika, Paranoia Agent, and Millennium Actress. He was slated to work on Dreaming Machine (which seemed to have died with Kon...). He also had music for the BERSERK anime and game. A few of my favorite songs of his were on the Detonator Orgun soundtrack. If you like this track, you should listen to Hirasawa's work for "The Lost Legend", a theme park spectacle.

Can anyone help me identify the interval between the first two notes of this song? I'm starting to learn how to identify intervals, and since I love this song and listen to it a lot, I was thinking about using it to remember how a specific interval sounds like. I'm guessing it's higher than perfect fifth? But not an octave? I could be absurdly wrong though
@salmonandsoup Жыл бұрын
It's actually a... I guess it would be perfect 13th? It goes from an F4 to a C6, so if it was in the same octave (aka an F4 to a C5), it would be a fifth. The way the synth bounces around octaves makes it messy, but you could consider the first two notes the lady sings a fifth.
