It always surprises me when watching these videos when he starts singing. The music often sounds too abstract to sing with. Then this quiet looking guy who was calmly playing the laser instrument suddenly calmly opens his mouth and he has an AMAZING voice. AHHHHHH!!! I love it!

when I first heard this song, I had such a clear image of the face behind the voice, and besides being about 40 years older than expected it was very close. It has imbued my mind with a dream-like presence of Hirasawa-san
Somehow when I listen to this I do not know whether to break into a smile of joy or burst into tears of sadness. This song seems to encapsulate both sheer ecstasy and some lonely feeling of longing, and I can never quite decide which is winning.

@@Sugaryn0vA The voice is just another instrument when used for music, people don't need to understand it for it to convey emotions just like they don't need to understand a piano or a guitar, get off your high horse you asshat.

it's been a decade since i listened to him... and i still love his music
This man is truly a revolutionary in so many ways and a brilliant musician and singer on top of all that! I can't show enough love and appreciation for him and his work.
its so strange to watch Hirasawa sing, he looks so calm yet the voice is so expressive, its hard to believe its even coming from him! Like all his emotion is being channeled to his voice

0:47 When a girl in an "áo dài" showed me the path where the wind blows... ** The "áo dài" is traditional costume of Vietnam. 1:27 A wise man in a "nón lá" showed me the abandoned paths... ** The "nón lá" is the Vietnamese conical hat. 2:32 "Xin chào các bạn, đây là quê hương của chúng tôi, đây là tương lai của chúng tôi" ** Welcome, here is our homeland, here is our future. This song is related to The Bạch Hổ (White Tiger) oil field in my country, Vietnam. I think Mr. Susumu Hirasawa visited this place before. Thanks for a really really beautiful song :)
I've listened to him since I was 12, I'm going on 24 now. His music has always been a huge inspiration to me, and I'm such a die hard fan. He's helped influence my own art in so many ways.
