It always surprises me when watching these videos when he starts singing. The music often sounds too abstract to sing with. Then this quiet looking guy who was calmly playing the laser instrument suddenly calmly opens his mouth and he has an AMAZING voice. AHHHHHH!!! I love it!

He’s always had a great live singing voice. A natural, true talent. 😊

when I first heard this song, I had such a clear image of the face behind the voice, and besides being about 40 years older than expected it was very close. It has imbued my mind with a dream-like presence of Hirasawa-san
Somehow when I listen to this I do not know whether to break into a smile of joy or burst into tears of sadness. This song seems to encapsulate both sheer ecstasy and some lonely feeling of longing, and I can never quite decide which is winning.

@@Sugaryn0vA The voice is just another instrument when used for music, people don't need to understand it for it to convey emotions just like they don't need to understand a piano or a guitar, get off your high horse you asshat.

If that's a tesla coil in the background the lack of its usage during this song infuriates me 😆. I used to know what the "laser shrine" was called... this also infuriates me 😆.

I think thats a theramin, just modified with lights to add a laser light effect
@MrMaelvis2 жыл бұрын
@@Unicorn_Bicycle A theremin works on a different principle. This thing is actually called a "Laser harp" and is very simple to use. If you block one of the laser lines it triggers a sound. You cant actaually "play" it and its not an actual intrument just a fancy thing to send a 0 or a 1 to a computer. A theremin is way more difficult to control and learn to play.. not that Im an expert but would think so from what I know about the instrument. I just. want to note to everyone just stumbling here the music is in an incredible anime movie by Satoshi Kon called Paprika, and to note it was an inspiration for inception so go see it
Wow he is so cool. When I first heard his music, I thought he was a young guy in his late 20s. He makes me want to continue whatever I am in pursuit of till the end.

Its kinda funny, he looks older in the 90’s and 2000’s but he looks young in the 2010’s and 2020’s. Young for a 60 year old at least
