Bhai…Camry ka pitch karne k liye kisey ley aaye? He clearly didn’t know the reason why certain segment of people prefer sedan over suv. No doubt the pitching of Arun is better than Aditya as to why one would prefer SUV over sedan. And all his points were perfectly valid. 1) So here’s the thing, I’m completely into sedans because I like to sit low and sporty something that no SUV (not even the crossover) can give regardless of all technologies thrown in the car. And I cannot thanks Toyota more for continuing such premium large sedans in India given SUVs are the mojo today. It’s unprecedented. Almost all such companies that used to make premium large sedans like Honda and Hyundai have discontinued their respective models in the country. Skoda is another exception there. 2) SUVs are all about body-roll something that sedans don’t have to suffer with. And it’s not a rocket science to understand why. Low centre of gravity on sedan over SUVs. Simple physics. And it’s one of the prime reason why a sedan will always be more comfortable than an SUV. And Camry is a benchmark in sumptuous interior and sheer comfort. 3) Your car reflects the kind of person you are and your personality. And sedan owners are usually registered with sober, simple and family people. Whereas SUV owners, more often then not, are registered with goon or someone who you’d not like to mess with. And Fortuner is popular or rather unpopular for being a goon’s or politician’s car. Its very less likely for someone to register Fortuner with a family man or woman. Sedans are classic and is registered with classy people. SUVs are imposing and is registered with bossy people. It’s a matter of preference. 4) That Arun would say he does not like sedans because one sits low and SUV owners look down on them when they pass by to convey a sense of being more powerful, is hilarious. Why? Because such SUV owners are clearly oblivious to the kind of power and performance that low sitting sedan has over SUV. Try looking down upon a Lamborghini or a Porsche or a BMW sedan owner and they will smoke dust in SUV owner’s face. So don’t judge a book by its cover. Just because sedan sits low to the ground doesn’t mean it also sits low in terms of power and performance. 5) Comparing the practicality of both the cars in terms of their off-road capability just to give an upper hand to SUV, doesn’t make any sense. Someone who is buying a sedan is pretty clear that s/he is not going to climb a Mount Everest on their car. Their daily commute does not involve rocks and boulders. Similarly, Someone who is buying an SUV is also clearly that her/his daily or routine drive involves off-road tarmac and SUV suits them the best. There’s no comparison here between the two cars.

You have so rightly captured the essence of this debate in two points : Point 1: “Fortuner is driven by someone who works for the one sitting in the Camry.” Not a derogatory statement at all. The well paid senior executives of an MNC (age bracket 35-50) would prefer charging on the roads in their Fortuners announcing to the world that they have ARRIVED in life while the MD/CEO of the same company (age bracket 50-65) would be sailing around in his Camry not wanting to prove anything to anyone having reached the pinnacle of success long time back itself. Point 2: “Our inability to understand the difference between BAD ROAD and OFF ROAD.” Spot on boyo! 90% of the Fortuner customers are never going to take it offroading. Granted that Indian roads leave much to be desired, but does it necessitate these fuel guzzling white elephants? Heavy on the pocket in terms of fuel consumption and maintenance + heavy on the environment in terms of their larger carbon footprint. In a way, the only real purpose these mammoths serve is satiating your inner pseudo. So my vote goes to the Camry. Gem of a car; inside and out! Completely forgot practical boot space , once u use the rear seats in suv .u can't load any luggage, and sedans u can still seat 5 people with lot more luggage and stay planted on highways and twisties , just for additional seating of 2 more and ground clearance in suv ur trading off aerodynamics , mileage and ride quality.

SUV vs Sedan Some of my thoughts, 1. SUV not stable at high speed, body rollover , not good experience at curvy hilly roads. 2. Sedans are low to ground so very stable at highspeed , no body rollover in curvy hilly roads. 3. Old aged people and someone who have big tummy prefer SUVs as sedan seats are low so ingrace and outgrace is not easy for such people. 4. Sedans have longer wheel base so ride quality is very good as you are seats in middle of car. 5. SUV generally are less fuel efficient and sedan provide better fuel efficiency as there are more aerodynamic. 6. Maintainance and tire cost are almosty double in SUV. 7. If your primary driving is normal roads , Physically well fit and love to drive at highspeed at highways then i prefer Sedan over SUV. 8. if your mind set is SUV is a status symbol , you actually do lots of offroad or live in a city with extreme bad roads then i prefer SUV over sedan. Any VIP or Minister is driven around in a SEDAN, escorted by SUV's, clearing the way. If one drives the Camry back to back with the Fortuner and if someone asks a by standard, that which car carries the VIP, they would always say that the VIP is in the SEDAN, not the Fortuner. Maybe the Fortuner carries the VIP's bodyguards. As rightly mentioned, SEDAN portraits the owners image and according to me the type of SEDAN reflects on the owners personality too. The owner of a BMW 5 series portraits a different personality than the one displayed by owner of a Mercedes E Class.

Ground clearance is must required on Indian roads, due to unpredictable road conditions. If that comes in Sedan, like at some point in civic, slavia/virtus or minimum 200mm, then there is no one who can beat the Sedan classes, in comfort, drive and at some point in at fun to drive aspect.

If a sedan have 200mm gc then it won't drive like a true sedan. There will be lots of body roll and it won't be stable enough. No company would give 200mm in sedan

Sedan is always a sensible choice over any other vehicle type. Mostly all the vehicles which runs in India runs on road 95% of the time. There is a paradigm shift in the last few years from sedan to suv. The Major reason behind this adoption is SHOW-OFF, not to mention there are few genuine reasons for some people who have to go over some really bad roads or over off road, etc etc....

“Dar nai lagna chaiye gaadi chalate time” -someone said in the video Bhai dar high centre of gravity ka zaada hona chaiye SUVs ki. You can’t turn SUVs and control them at high speeds as much as you can the sedans. Secondly Camry is much quicker than a Fortuner. Camry does 0-100kmph in 7.8 secs which is at par with bmw X1, audi A3, audi q3 etc. Its a luxury car level performance. Third point is comfort. Camry is compared with Audi A6 and E class for comfort so Fortuner with its tall wobbly and stiff ride is no comparison. So for most people who would never offroad and just need high ground clearance for those unpredictable potholes, you are much better of off a Camry. Fourthly, fuel economy. Though a 50 lakh Rupees car buyer wont care about fuel economy but even for them Camry’s 20-23 average vs Fortuners 7-10 will save lakhs of Rupees. -Fifth point: Features. Camry is LOADED with features whether its ventilated seats electrically adjustable steering memory function rear reclining seats etc, 10 airbags, Fortuners features are atleast 5-7 years behind. Final point: Fortuners are way more common than a Camry hybrid so not sure if they carry as much uniqueness or attractiveness factor as a Camry. But for many users Fortuner is about tashan rather than real offroad use. Camry is a bit different. Its states that yes I can buy a luxury sedan but I will stick with no show off no-nonsense reliability. Not belittling Fortuners anyway but the fact is that Camry is a segment above. Fortuners are expensive because they have high demand and Toyota is leveraging that. Fact is that an XUV 700 is quicker and has many more features at half the price. Fortuner at 35-40 on road. llakhs would be 👌 Its the best non luxury SUV in India.

Seadan is MUCH MORE PRACTICAL car than SUV. A full size Sedan ticks all of the boxes for a consumer. Design, Mileage, Safety, Comfort, Features, road presence, luxury. You name it. Modern Sedans have 165mm+ ground clearance which is enough for even bad Indian road conditions. Now Indian roads are much better though. The ONLY two reasons to by an SUV are 1. If you do off roading a lot, 2. If you're an immature sheep that wants to show off the fake gangsta vibe. There is a reason why premium and luxury manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes mostly sell Sedans. Sedans screams luxury and road presence.

1) Looks and Powerful looks - SUV Class and style and luxury - Sedan. 2) Politician and powerful people go for SUV for look and tall looks and ofcourse the sitting position. Classs and rich kids prefer Sedan. 3) SUV as a vehicle has more advantages: a) ground clearance b) spacious c) you can take more people - 3 rows. d) Long drives are comfortable because of sitting position. For both driver and passenger. Sedan's market is reducing and good for limited distance drives only. If you go really long tour on sedans both the driver and passenger won't be comfortable sitting so long. If you have money and needs a trunk space then ppl they go for Sedan or be because of style. Nowadays I can see sedans are used only in taxi. For normal use also PPL are preferring cresta, seletos and breeze the market and peoples choices have changed.

My preference is sedan 🚗. Because I like the design of sedans and the aerodynamics of sedans are awesome as we compare to SUVs. And second reason is it the design of sedan matches with Rolls Royce, Bugatti and Lamborghini which is our dream cars. 3rd point is the turning radius of sedan is less as compare to SUVs.

SUV's for sure And the only reason is "Ground clearance" In SUV you can see the bonet especially upto the extreme left, which gives you immense confidence while driving and you feel more relax. But though fortuner is too giant, For me Harrier seems the best and in below 20L segment creta and seltos is the best. It's all about drive, to enjoy the drive and to be confident while driving which SUV won over sedan

Hot take : The most useless reason people give for suv over sedan is ground clearance . India had much terrible roads a decade ago, and guess what we had the low slung hatchs, and most sedans. We have better roads now and trend will continue, only people buying suv are who cannot radiat their tall stature from their personality to sit higher in on a red light, a labour in buldozer is probably higher. Suvs ,the real ones have their place and they excell in those but for 99% of people that place is never your destination. Either you are smart enough to not put your live and your vehicle in danger driving in shitty terrains or you let the skilled taxi driver do their job for probably everything less than your car's worth. Or you are stupid enough to take your so called suv in shitty terrain and get the car wrecked 9/10 times. Don't even get me started on 2wd hatchs on complain that companies claim to be suvs.
