If this hasn't affected your career, and income hasn't been disrupted, continue to pay your bills and stockpile cash as well. I'm a teacher and I'm paying all my bills, investing 15% and saving a ton of cash. My 6 months of Emergency fund gives me piece of mind. Thank you Lord.

@@msims1081 @M Sims Start small. Something like Stash app would allow you to get the hang of investing at your own pace. Also reading books about investing helps too. I started off with a family financial advisor when I came into money and the first thing he taught me was to invest in things that I liked and knew. From there, he categorized several components with my investments. Medical, technology, electricity, industrial, entertainment and banks; then he laid out an umbrella for all six. So if I looked into pharmaceutical I'd choose a company that oversees many brands underneath that umbrella which would be more beneficial. Right now I'm hearing that metals are a good investment but definitely don't be too impetuous. Try to invest when you know that you can allow your money to marinate and when you have some extra cash to do so. Try the site Penny Hoarder as well. Hope that helps

THE TITLE OF THIS IS FAITH this happen to me during 911 I lost my job, house, if a person loose their house you have the right to stay for almost a year without payment while it's going trough foreclosure that took about a year for me I am speaking about me. I paid my eclectic and gas with my unemployment credit cards I just sent 25.00 a month I had 3 at the time. yea it was tight But I made it, when my unemployment ran out I got a temp job, This is were your faith in God comes IN God he is in control if PEOPLE believe or not some people have things they really don't need, This could be their blessing in disguise. Now trust in his word STAND ON HIS PROMISES HE SAID I will not forsake you. after all this is over it will not be the same file bankruptcy get out of debt and stay out Now I'm done baby girl share this with whom ever. OH keep your car have to have that to get to work. YOU DON'T NEED A BIG HOUSE 5 BEDROOM FOR 3 PEOPLE. ONE LAST THING NEVER BUY A HOUSE FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

When April arrived, I didn't have to pay. Now the question is what happens in May. The $1200 promised money from govt hasn't arrived. I can't sign up for unemployment because the antiquated system needs to be reprogrammed for gig economy/self employed workers. And business still shut down; lockdown extended to May 15. Yea but utility bills don't necessarily have a minimum. Either they are giving you a grace period where no late fees/disconnection of services will occur or you owe what is due for the full billing period. It will still be owed either way so it makes since to chip away at it month by month. It's good that she emphasized touching base with each company to work out some kind of payment plan or to make them aware of your specific situation.

1. pay rent or mortgage. If you become homeless after the quarantine - game-over. Think outside the box. Double up if need be - i.e. 2 tested couples living in a one bedroom/studio. 2. Food. Go cheap and eat as healthy as you can. But buy cheap, cheap, cheap. This is not forever; but maybe for 12 months. 3. Pay utilities. 4. pay the min on credit cards - but do not over use. 4. Remember, the bank, the landlord and the utility company may attach late fees after everything is said and done. Do not believe them when they say - don't worry. Get every agreement/waiver in writing.

big spoon absolutely agree! I work for a property management company and after all of this is over, we’re going to start the evictions. So if you don’t have the complete rent amount, call your landlord or management company and make a payment plan so you are not put on the eviction list or you are at least saved from it for some time.
@MeekSpirit1
@MeekSpirit1 4 жыл бұрын
Guess it depends on the state because the landlords ARE NOT supposed to charge late fees. My sister's landlord tried that game and got shot down. Someone at the rental office told her when this shutdown started last month that she would have to pay late fees and they would start eviction proceedings if she was late. I told her to call the State Housing Authority or whoever she needed to and report them. She didn't do it, but someone must have done so. She received an email from the rental office the next day saying the late fees were suspended and no eviction proceedings would take place. Check your state rules about that and call whoever you have to - the governor, his wife, dog, whoever to get that mess stopped. A lot of the rental companies are trying to get over on people who are vulnerable.

Not everyone is in this situation however paying minimum amount due is not a bad thing but I would be very careful using a credit cards right now for anything if it’s not an emergency no matter what you will still be responsible for paying it at the end and you don’t want your credit score ruined. I do agree with her that everything should of been frozen such as credit scores, interest rates and such I believe it would of been a big help. Good Luck Everyone and whoever needs to hear this...You are not alone in this..try to be strong and God Bless! 🙏🏻

The Representative said you don't have to paid until July. I made my payments. This year will be my 13th year in my home and it hasn't been easy Thank God for everything. I told myself then it would never happen again and I paid off all my debt last March and am working on saving 6 month living expenses. Really great advice! My accounts were totally open to deferments which means no late fees no penalties. I’m only paying what I have to. She’s so right about using your cards and saving your cash. You can always pay your cards off later, but once you’re out of cash, for some of us it’s means we are out of money! She’s totally right about interest rates cause the banks are covered, and yes! It’s totally not okay that working class people will have their credit scores impacted when this is it their fault. It’s something to witness who we pay taxes, and watch that money bail out big corporations, when in fact if split that money between all of us, we would pay our bills and spend it, which would boost the economy without leaving anyone homeless or hungry. I’m feeling it for all the low wage workers, without insurance or sick pay, who keep our economy strong.

Great Advice. This advice is for people who are living paycheck to paycheck, Not for those who don't have money issues. Being that COVID-19 has set a new precedent some don't realize that truly reputable established companies will Not be charging late fees nor reporting to the credit bureau as it is totally inappropriate at this time. They would never see a dime of the money if they did & it would only cause a rise in bankruptcies. Like Susie said people need to call their creditors if they are having issues & work out something. It's Survival & Common Sense. Now people who have addictions & pay for their addictions b4 their expenses will continue to have problems as well as those with overall poor stewardship skills.

She said the following to poor people, “save money in an emergency fund that will last you at least 8 mos and, if need be, borrow money from friends or maybe they can gift it to you.” Huh?! Most poor people know other poor people. Saving money and knowing people who have money you can borrow is an oxymoron when talking about POOR people. Who the heck does she think she’s talking to? People like her are delusional when it comes to the financial ability of poor people.

Keith R - You’re as RiDAMNdiculous as she is. What you just described is NOT a poor person. What you described is a person with SOME discretionary income and, if managed like a miser, they could probably save a few months, not 6, but a few months of emergency money. If a poor person did not do nor had any of the things you mentioned, they STILL couldn’t save 6 mos of emergency money. Not with the minimum wage and tax rates being what they are. So stop it! That said, NONE of what you said, makes what she said make any more sense.

Saving money has nothing to do with wealth. My grandparents were working-class people and paid all of their bills, and saved TONS of money. Saving is a very realistic idea and it’s possible. People need to just discipline themselves and stop wasting money. Here are 10 major mistakes your average poor person wastes money on: 1.) Fast food (eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at home saves tons of money, and is healthier) 2.) sneakers 3.) unnecessary services (nail salons, hair appointments, car washes, barber shops) I’m not poor, but I do most of these things myself, and people always ask me for “recommendations”... lol 4.) blowing their income tax refunds (do you know how many “poor” people with kids get about 5-10 THOUSAND dollars in refunds and then blow it all by the end of the summer? They literally blew their foundation for savings!!!)

Don't listen to these folks coming into our community saying don't pay your bills or get unnecessary payment plans that may require a lump sum of money when it's due again. That's what your money is for to take care of your responsibilities. Now don't go charging and buying stuff you don't need but take care of your essentials if you can.

The credit/Fico score is a BIG factor! I’ve been struggling to figure out whether to hold em or fold em. While I am still gainfully employed and have a savings emergency fund as she stated I am not catching a break on finances anywhere. I’ve been paying the minimum on my cc the last 60 days but my credit score is taking a nose dive as a result. Where the pandemic is not hitting some of us financially it is still an emotionally trying time. And I feel we all deserve a break so I created my own. I don’t want to regret it down the line but it would be nice if companies across the board were able to grant financial grace for all.

Teapot Inc That is very understandable. I should have been more sensitive to those who may not have the resources to keep paying. I believe that it’s a smarter decision to keep paying only if you can and plan on moving after this whole thing is over. On another helpful note: For anyone who may be hard on funds during this time, particularly independent contractors, look into paycheck protection loans for small businesses; independent contractors are eligible too. Don’t skip payments just because you can; skip them because you have no choice. It will make it harder for those who actuallly need to skip go catch a break if people who don’t need to do so anyways. Best of luck to you OP!
