In this video we're listening to Suzi Quatro. We've heard Suzi's name for years, but we never listened to one song of hers. This will be an interesting experience. Enjoy!

Suzi was massive in Australia and the UK from about 73 to 75, yet was virtually ignored in her home country. She had hit after hit here in Australia.

Great reaction guys. Suzi was big in the U.K. and Australia, not in the U.S.A. where she's from. She had quite a few hits, "Can The Can", "48 Crash", "If You Can't Give Me Love", "Your Mama Won't Like Me", "Stumblin' In", "Glycerine Queen", there are many others too. Yes, Suzi was in 'Happy Days' as 'Leather Tuscadero'.

Suzi was a huge star in England and Europe. She is still recording and touring on this side of the pond and has lived in England for decades. Try Can the can, that's a great song. Suzi is tiny, and she's also an absolute sweetheart.

Suzi played Leather or Pinky Tuskadearo (sorry about the spelling) I can't remember which, on Happy Days. She was only in a few episodes. Suzi plays bass and piano. I saw her only a few years back. She still rocks, and still looks great in her leather pants. She did retire, but couldn't handle it and started touring again. As for song recommendations, Can the Can, Your Mama Won't Like Me or Glycerine Queen.

Suzi Quatro - the first female rock star to make a man out of me!! You just gotta do her song "Can the Can." Just how the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has repeatedly snubbed this woman is utterly bewildering (she has been eligible since 1999).

Suzie Quatro only had one #1 in her homeland of the United States. She was far more popular in the UK, and here in Australia.

A lot of her songs are credited to Englishman Nicky Chinn and Aussie Mike Chapman (Chinnichap as they are sometimes collectively called). However Chapman actually did the music and Chinn did business end stuff and promotions. Chapman would later go on to steer Blondie’s seminal album “Parallel Lines” - including turning their song into a disco hit - “Heart of Glass”
He continued to write (and co-write) hits into the 1980s such as Pat Benetar’s "Love Is a Battlefield” and "The Best” which he wrote for Bonnie Tyler, but when covered by Tina Turner became a massive world-wide hit.

AAAww the Memorys ! Suzi was a proper 1st Lady Rocker , My older Brother saw her at The " Winter Gardens " Penzance about 1974 said she was Brill ,, Her Voice got Louder the further she was from the Mic ! Also That Huge Fender Bass made her look like a very cute "Hobbit " but not singing about The "Shire " Cheers for that !

My brother still gets gooey eyed at the mention of Suzi Quatro. Yes, she is tiny and that is a standard Fender Precision Bass not some oversized comedy thing. She is also an absolute sweetie, she had a show on Radio 1 and more recently Radio 2 and just comes over as the nicest person you could wish to meet and really is a hell of a bassist.

If you recall Pinky Tuscadero, this was her sis Leather Tuscadero. She’s actually a far better bass player than a lot of people would give her credit for, ‘cos she played for a dance-rock audience.

She dropped right in the middle of Glam Rock in the UK, this was about her third single. Peter Frampton played guitar on her first one as a session musician. Written and produced by Chinn and Chapman and if you want the best thing Chinn and Chapman ever did, try 'Tiger Feet' by Mud

Chris , your a legend son ! THIS is why I love this channel , you both read ALL the comments and that’s a connection right there my friend ! It was SPK and myself that was discussing Suzi and thanks for settling the question btw . This track is right in my wheelhouse and has nothing to do with me being 12 when it came out and for the first time I noticed a leather clad , bass playing , rocking fox and realised I was very much in love 😍 for the first time . Superb that you picked up on this convo and we’re kind enough to react to it .. cheers in buckets , love it ! Yeah she appeared in Happy Days 😮 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Suzi also had a gig with the duet Stumblin’ In which she did with Chris Norman of Smokie. That was around the time when there were lots of duets, like Stevie Nicks with Don Henley doing Leather And Lace, or Kate Bush with Roy Harper (and David Gilmour) doing You.

We noticed on your list that you had Spacehog - In The Meantime. We also realised that we know that song quite well. Though we know no others. Do they have more than one hit, or is there a song on that album that you would like to hear instead?

@@hanierfamily Cool. If I had one pick for you guys, I’d already mentioned it, but it’d be the studio version of Lopsy Lu by Stanley Clarke. A funky groove and great musicianship. The video to pick has his self-titled album cover as the thumbnail. The album cover is a faded red-ish colour with a photo of Stanley on bass guitar. Don’t go for a live version, at least without being familiar with the studio version first. Anyhow, even if you never do it, thanks for the choices you’ve made.

Love her song 48 Crash. It's Alastair McKenzie on piano/keys. Suzi Q used to be in the band Pleasure Seekers with her sisters. Her sister Arlene are the mother of actress Sherilyn Fenn known for Twin Peaks. Her brother Michael are also a musician. He play keyboards and have released several albums. Her sister Patti were a member of female band Fanny. Devil Gate Drive are from 1974. Loved her first 3 albums from 1973, 1974 and 1975. After that time she began making ballads and more commercial songs

I did go and see Suzi at a pub when she came to Australia. Aussies love Suzi and she came here many, many times, in fact I think she’s headed here again this year, but I only recall her big hits like 48 Crash and Devil Gate Drive and Can The Can. Those songs were huge, but they’re all of a similar nature. Lots of good time rock and roll. It’s like AC-DC. You get pretty much the same stuff, but it’s great so you don’t care that they don’t explore.

Yeah just looked at the charts.. she had more # 1's in Aus than anywhere else. Other than the duet, no singles in the top 40 in the States which stunned me.. and only 1 Studio album made the top 100. No wonder she's made many trips to Australia

O.K. Since I see you dig live performances I'll give you one last performance by Kid Creole and the Coconuts. The live performance is (Night of the Proms @ Nokia) It won't be in the KZbin title but the song he's performing is (Annie I'm not your daddy). As I mentioned he's still active with different girl members & I look at him as being one of the best acts the 80's had to offer other than your Prince, Michael jackson, George Michael type people. Enjoy & keep having fun. By the way the performance is from 2010 so he would be much older. 👍
