Suzuki 6HP outboard wont start, carb cleaning

Like you, I bought the same engine a year ago, was running perfectly for the first couple of months. Took boat out of the water in Jan, and took the engine home. Tried running it in April, and it wouldn't start, had to clean the carb as the needle valve was gunked and not letting fuel into the bowl. I've been using it since then, but it's been getting harder to start, and wouldn't idle without choke. I've had to clean it again, including taking the stainless plate off the top, and removing/cleaning the jets at the top as they control the idle - so much for new things being reliable. Filled the tank with fresh E5 mixed with fuel stabiliser, hoping not to have to do it again.

Had Problems with a new one, changing the sparkplug helped,-- no sorry it didnt, not an expert, cuts out anytime, than doesnt start anymore until the next day, tips are appreciated

Mark...what should the oil level be in the window? What is the higher limit/lower limit based on the window?

@@MrMeltedwellies read the manual. It took me quite a while to understand what it says. Other than all the dipsticks I have used in the past, this one asks you to put in without screwing it in..... I had to use reading glasses to find out the oil level on the stick.

Nice video. What coused it to clog up ? Have the same problem on my engine somtimes when I havent used it for a week or so. Hard to start and wont run without choke and sometimes dosntit start at all. Runs fine if i can get it going for a while. Had it cleaned by a shop once. Used clean plastic bottles for fuel and the filter is clean.

leaving fuel in the carb which clogs the jets you can buy fuel additive to stop this or run engine till it runs out of fuel in the carb

It works 8 minutes on fuel in carb.takes time to use it all, but its best way to prevent clog
