Why was it stripped down Mitch? I would have cleaned all those black panels with silicone spray. Some of the screws and bolts looked like they had furring, white salt deposits due to corrosion due to living in a coastal area. ACF50 would solve that. So much plastic to go back on a scoot compared to a motorcycle. Good job and not a screw or fastener left.

The owner wanted me to inspect everything - he just bought it from the previous owner who live right by the beach.... clean up inside, I painted few sub frames where they got rusted.. Look like previous owner never wash it caused the rust built up... so crazy! I just checked out ACF50, that product looks good! Amazon won't ship it to Hawaii ugh, I will find a way 😅

@@TheyKnowWhoThisIs I just sold my 2007 400 but kept my 2004 650. I really loved the 400, it was lighter and much easier to push around compared to the 650. I always have to park the 650 on a flat or downhill, it's too heavy for my old-fart body to back uphill. However, the 650 has quite a bit more power and I love the manual shift mode (that's all I use although "automatic" mode is excellent). With the 400's classic scooter drive train, you can do some changes to the variator weights and perhaps the clutch springs but it's nowhere near as flexible as the 650's CVT. Obviously the 650's twin is smoother than the 400's thumper but that never bothered me. I rode the 400 around town where it really shines and saved the 650 for longer rides. The 400 was actually fine at 65mph on the freeway but the gas mileage dropped from 60mpg++ to low 50s. I got around 70mpg occasionally on long back-roads trips where I could keep the speed under 50mph. Best I've seen from my 650 was about 52mpg. The original clutch in the 2007 400 was a total POS, so I replaced it with a Malossi clutch which is excellent. I think Suzuki fixed the clutch problems for 2008. The 650 has an excellent, smooth wet clutch. I would have kept the 400 but after hitting a damn deer and a moron in a nissan, the plastics were a mess and I wasn't interested in repairing them --- I had already done that for the 650 several years ago.
