I have just completed my version of the mod. I put a 3x2 inch angled bracket on the right side of the engine, fastening it with 2 x 10-32 machine screws (with nuts) and 1 self tapping screw. The angle projects outward at a 90 degree angle, with a hole centred that accommodates the 1/4 NPT end of a male outboard motor quick disconnect. The tank hose has the female half. Whendisconnected both fittings close themselves off, therefore I have no in-line shutoff valves. Then a 1/4 inch barb-fitting is attached to take the hose running up to the barb t fitting. The bracket is fixed adjacent to where the rear carry handle meets the back edge of the lower cowling. The angled part of the bracket is at the forward edge. Secondo te si può montare una pompa benzina anche se il fuoribordo non è predisposto ? Sul mio SUZUKI df 2.5 non c'è ho fatto anche un video a riguardo che uscirà a breve. Vorrei montare la pompa x poi usare un serbatoio esterno, che ne dici?

American ingenuity at it's finest what is the fuel consumption rates at full - half- 1/3 speeds and how many hours could you run on 30 gallons of fuel

Thanks! Based on what I showed in the beginning of the video where "one quart of fuel being equivalent to one hour of run time" for the Suzuki 2.5 outboard, 30 gallons would give you 120 hours of run time on a best case scenario. Accordingly your mileage will vary at full, half and 1/3 throttled speeds but sadly I have no specific data to give on these throttle ranges.

Great video. But i followed every step and see im having issues with throttling up. It idles just fine. But when i go it just seems like the engine is not getting enough fuel. Any thoughts? Im wondering if my line is too long. It about 4-5ft long.

Hi Shawn! It sounds like your fuel tank vent is closed. You want to make sure that your fuel tank vent cap is open whenever you operate your motor. 😊👍

Hi Will. I strictly use non-ethanol fuels for my outboards.

I will say that fuel with ethanol is fine for all engines. It's that in Sweden at least

Great idea, but why not remove the existing gas tank? I would see no use for it. The remote tank hose could come out the front for a cleaner installation and I think one of the shut off valves could be eliminated. What do you think?

Thanks for the comment Chessyman! There are multiple ways to accomplish this mod and they are all based on personal preference. With that said, yes, it is possible to do it like you mentioned. The main purpose of the video is to show that it can be done rather easily with no permanent alterations. I personally chose to do it in a way that would retain all the original functionality of the motor with the option that it can be easily reverted back to stock. 😊👍

Hi!why did you connect the internal hose tank again into the T? If the goal is the bypass the internal fuel tank?

Hi Christian! The whole goal of this mod is to increase the travel range for the suzuki as was stated in the beginning of the video ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/iImtdGWsmtuFqtk ). You can run the motor with its internal fuel tank until you run out of fuel and then continue on your journey using the external tank instead of trying to refill your internal tank out on the water. Of course with this mod you will always have the option to run with just the external fuel tank by keeping the internal fuel tank fuel lever in the off position if you desire to do so.

really brilliant, I'm thinking of doing it too, I have the 2.5 year 2021, will it work? I wanted to ask you but if I do not pump with the pump, the engine will not be able to pull the petrol from the tank by itself external ?

Thanks Nino! My Suzuki 2.5 is a 2018 model and it has a fuel pump that draws the fuel from the tank with no issues so I would imagine that the 2021 model year will also have the pump as well. I show the fuel pump on my motor here in the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iImtdGWsmtuFqtk 😊👍

@@FFHTV but why do you have to pump with the pump? having the pump the engine is unable to pull the gasoline by itself?

All carbureted outboard motors that have fuel pumps are capable of lifting fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. The purpose of the primer bulb is to prime the fuel lift pump that is mounted on the engine with fuel. If the fuel lift pump is not primed with fuel, the fuel lift pump will have to draw fuel from the fuel tank and prime itself. The fuel lift pump on the Suzuki 2.5 operates from vacuum pulses derived from the engines crankcase. Thus the fuel lift pump only operates when the engine is turning over. If the fuel lift pump is not primed, the engine will have to be turned over for quite a while before the fuel lift pump will draw fuel from the tank. This can lead to a lot of cranking of the engine before it will start. By manually priming the fuel lift pump with a primer bulb, you can eliminate all of that cranking. Engines with carburetors, such as the Suzuki 2.5, tend to have their fuel system vented to the atmosphere. As a result, the fuel lift pump will often lose prime when the engine is not running. If a carburetor engine sits for a day or two without running, it is common that fuel in the fuel hose going to the fuel lift pump that is mounted on the engine may drain back to the tank. An engine like this will either need to be primed with the primer bulb or be cranked over until the fuel lift pump primes itself and begins to deliver fuel. I hope this explanation helps. 😊

@@FFHTV grazie mille thanks 1000 x your explanation, so the pump is only needed to load the carburetor pump, but why in the video you show how many pumps it takes to fill that bottle?

Oh... That's for people that don't want to perform the mod on their motor for an external tank but would rather just carry extra fuel with them to fill up with. The video shows how many pumps of the primer bulb it would take to fill up the internal tank of the Suzuki 2.5 from empty.
