Such a clean build. Great job on making the bike look gorgeous and still maintaining it's performance capabilities. Thanks for the overview!

Looks great man! Triumph 865 air cooled scramblers look amazing to me and I've ridden a few and think you have struck the balance point nicely between looks and function. Looking for a cheap DR650 now to make my own! Thanks for the terrific content!

Sweet !!! Looks like a very fun bike to scoot around on, I imagine it feels totally different than a standard DR
@dalepaddon89042 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The main things that change the feel are the seating position (where the tank & seat make you sit depending on their size/shape) and the wheels/tyres. Otherwise it’s still very DR. 👍

Best looking DR650 i have seen so far - great job! How does it ride?
@dalepaddon890410 ай бұрын
Thanks. Rides great. Nice blend of road manners and off road manners. Since the video I raised it back to height midway between stock & lowered- just because it looked a bit too squatted down. I’ve always been tuning it with a afr tuner & finding I’ve been running on the rich side.

Really lovely build. Could you tell me what kind of range you get from the tank?
@dalepaddon8904 Жыл бұрын
It’s a little bit over 12L so similar to a stock tank- about 200km

Beautiful bike, man. I wonder how much these scramblers weigh. Do you have a weight for your build?
@dalepaddon89042 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes, the weight is something I pay attention to. I weighed it with some Fitbit scales and it was 154kg with an empty fuel tank. I just changed the exhaust yesterday which is heavier than that custom exhaust by about 1kg. There’s some steel made brackets etc that I might trim down to shave a little more weight.

@@dalepaddon8904 A fine job! Some of your solutions could come in handy in my plans. I ride -97 which looks pretty standard, but has lots of mods. Last weekend I went lithium-ion, which dropped the weight three kilos. Light weight is very important to me.

Ouah! Amazing DR custom! Thanks for that 🤌🏼 Is it possible to know how much this transformation cost you in money and time? Good ride !
@dalepaddon89045 ай бұрын
Thanks. Time? Years 😝 hard to gauge as depends how much time you can spend on it & how much you do it yourself. The major part of the transformation it was unrideable for about 8 months. Some stuff was done professionally some by me- I’d do little bits at a time. Cost is kind of the same- depends how much you do yourself. Eg painting the tank costs me maybe $120 in paint coz I do it myself. You could take a bike to a custom shop to do the whole lot, maybe take them a couple of months & probably cost just as much as the bike costs.
