I made a video quite a while back showing an overview of some of the techniques I use to clean an engine bay. The link is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIennaBjbcmpbJI Some of my techniques have changed over times as I have learned or as better products have been released, but overall, much of the information should be the same. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Is the NewTransmission fliuld Red like on most cars. My mom has the same vehicle except she has a 4 cylinder and hers not red but it looks like the color of old oil?
@redonKiLaus6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is indeed red. If it is black like old oil, then it is likely the original fluid with over 100k miles, which effectively means that the transmission life will be reduced. If that's the case, then it would be wise to change it if it's around the 100k mile mark - if significantly higher and on original fluid, you do risk shortening the transmission's life even further by changing the fluid at that point. Personally, I do anyway on vehicles with high mileage that have been neglected because in my opinion it is better to have the transmission fail sooner than later and take care of the rebuild/replacement then. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Hey thanks for your dedication! Just bought a 2007 GV 2.7 V6 auto and your videos helped me big time and saved me a bunch of money. Question, how many bottles of 3309 did you use? I used your method and drained almost 3.5 liters out of the transmission but the service manual says to use only 2.5 liters when doing the change from the drain plug? A difference of 1 liter is way too much discrepancy, I really don't want to mess the trans but this has me scratching my head. Level before the change was half way between the f and e marks and as far as I know there are no trans leaks.
@redonKiLaus8 жыл бұрын
It's been so long since I did this service that I can't tell you how many bottles of fluid I ended up using. Is that 2.5L spec for the V6 transmission, or is it for the I4 version? I'm not sure if Suzuki mated the different engines to different transmissions for the GV, but if so, there should be a different spec for each version. Otherwise, I would put in the 2.5 liters, start up the vehicle and cycle through the gears, and check the fluid level (with it running, of course) to see where it is after refilling that amount. If it's low, top up as necessary. The spec could also be mis-stated in my manual or yours...I see that happen fairly frequently, particularly with VW. I hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
@mleindek8 жыл бұрын
Wow, thanks for your answer, the 2.5 lts of trans oil spec is printed in both my user's manual and the service manual for the 2007 V6 2.7 5 speed auto so I guess they're right... Thing is when I drained it almost 3.5 lts came out so I put the same exact amount regardless what the manuals say. Level stick shows 3/4 full when hot so I think I'm good... I hope I didn't screw up but simple logic dictates that if 3.3 lts come out, 3.3 lts go in (the level was fine before the change, wasn't overfilled). Sad that Suzuki is not in the States anymore, the GV has been proven to be a really sturdy, versatile and cheap to maintain suv all around the world. Again, thanks for your answer!

Would I be able to use Castrol Transmax Import Multi-Vehicle in the 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.7L? Castrol's site says it exceeds the requirements of the JASO-1A performance standard created by Japanese Automobile Manufacturers. It also states it's recommended for use in vehicles that use Toyota T-IV and Aisin Warner transmissions that use JWS 3309.
@redonKiLaus6 жыл бұрын
According to Castrol's site, they recommend that fluid (the full-synthetic version) for the 2.7L V6 variant of the GV. That recommendation from the manufacturer, combined with the claimed compatibility with 3309 fluid, leads me to believe it should be perfect for your application. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Great video man. I have the same Suzuki Grand Vitara as in this video it's just a 2006 model, and I'm curious and would appreciate your opinion. Mine has about 143,000 miles on it, when I change my transmission fluid next should I also change out the filter since it's getting on up there in miles? Thanks
@redonKiLaus7 жыл бұрын
I've never had to change the filter on any of the transmissions in my Asian vehicles (even ones with 200k+ miles), but if you want to do it on yours for peace of mind there's no harm in it. German vehicles are a different story, though, and they get new filters every 50-100k miles. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

hi, can I use ATF 3309 for 2007 suzuki grand vitra J20A .? someone used different fluid and now it is problematic. please give your kind opinion ?
@redonKiLaus6 жыл бұрын
As far as I know, all of the 06-08 GV models used 3309 in the transmission, but you should check your owner's manual first. That said, if somebody used the incorrect fluid and it is having issues now, there may be permanent damage to the transmission necessitating a rebuild. Hopefully that is not the case, but you should definitely look into it all the same. Thanks for watching!

Just yesterday I noticed when I shift from park to anything i get a solid jerk. Like it does a nice bump but once im driving it seems to be ok. Its a 2000 grand vitara im really hoping i just need to change tranny fluid and filter
@redonKiLaus7 жыл бұрын
If the fluid has over 60k miles or so on it, it is very likely old and dirty fluid causing issues, but typically things like a shifting jerk gets progressively worse as the fluid ages, so if it's something that just popped up suddenly then it could potentially be something else as well. Thanks for watching!

Stupidly i got angry the other day and slammed my gas and went from N to drive like an idiot revving my engine. It started a few days after that. I just brought it to my mechanic today and one said it sounds like mounts and the other said transmission. I asked them to do a filter and tranny fluid change and they said that it was risky and I maybe shouldn't. They said it could help or make it worse?

You're very unlikely to be able to obtain an OEM one at this point. Suzuki parts availability is close to null, and what parts are available are marked up quite a bit. Your best bet is aftermarket, if another company makes a transmission filter for these trucks.

hey, i got same problme whit my grand vitara 2.0 yr'06 automatic transmissin, the problme is that gear same can't tranfer to second or trd gear
@redonKiLaus8 жыл бұрын
Unless the those gears are controlled by the same solenoid, I would venture to guess that losing those gears is the beginning of the end of that transmission. I recommend taking it to a qualified, trusted mechanic for them to determine what the issue is, but if the vehicle needs a replacement transmission it may not be worth fixing. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

I just checked with Redline oils and it looks like they spec D4 ATF for it, which typically means the transmission was originally designed for Dexron fluids. You can check your owners manual for GM's specific recommendation, or just visit an auto parts store and have the worker look it up for you to confirm. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
