Suzuki Intruder VS1400: Top End Engine Build 1/2 - Rebuild Part 5

To rebuild the engine of a Suzuki Intruder VS1400 takes a lot of forward planning. There are a lot of different things to consider such as the timing chain, the cams, the cam chain tensioner, the piston and piston rings. Each of these parts of the engine rebuild plays a crucial role in the functionality of the engine and if the Intruders 1400cc engine is not put back together correctly, you could destroy it.
The rebuild of the engine does not require special tools, contrary to popular belief. I will show you how to set the piston rings, how to change the head gasket, how to set the timing chain tensioner and the correct way of installing the cylinder bolts and head bolts of the engine.
Remember that I AM NOT a professional mechanic and that if you do decide to tear down your Suzuki VS1400 Intruder that you run the risk of causing damage to your motorcycle.

This is the biggest project I have taken on, The bike will be completely stripped down to the frame, the engine will be removed for new piston rings to be installed, the wiring harness is going to be rewired and the entire bike overhauled, ready for spring 2020....I hope.

At first I was saying C-clip? Second take, you installed it. Suzuki manual recommends the c-clip gap should be aligned with the pry out cut on the piston, aka rotate gap to that position.

Did you find what was wrong with your engine. I have oil in the top of my head/ leaks out when hot. Is it just a head gasket. Or is it just the wrong oil? Just purchased the bike

If you are referring to the gasket kit. Look up Athena VS1400 (year of bike*) engine gasket full kit

The resistance of the fuel pump should be 1 - 2 ohms
