These things are animal used to have an arctic cat 300, the drive train was made by suzuki. In first gear super low these are geared 126.5:1 O.O big bears are only 60:1. Lowest geared 4 wheeler ever produced.

I just went on a quad buying spree ended up getting six ATVs for $700 two are the Suzuki 300 king quads both are 4x4 and I'm going to cut one up and make a side x side (utv) out of it. seems like an almost perfect quad for your project. The gear ratios should help with the utility part and the locking diff is a nice feature.

Will those back axle shafts take the extra weight with out bending or messing up the bearings in the rear diff ? Maybe a articulating tag axle added to the back with the dump box over that. just a thought. Can`t wait to see the build . You always have good videos.

even the 300 king quad had a bit of a gap. I think it's just a side effect of having the engine, transmission, and rear differential as one unit.

How about putting some sort of bogie wheels and suspension on an extended frame to carry the weight and extra length of the box? that way you won't have to mess with lengthening any of the vitals.

Quadrunner 250 not king quad. I got one for free from my grandpa. 900 miles had been sitting for 10 or 15 years. Cleaned the carb and started right up.

I just picked up one of these!! Good Little Machines!! I am custom building rods and steal for a shifter (Can not stand the $200 gear shifter cable)!! But I would prob build new engine mounts before cutting the frame!! That way the engine will sit up more near the front then you would get enough clearance !! Thanks 4 Sharing !!

Why in the hell would you move the engine away from the way it was designed? The main reason of that design was for traction and stability. Remember that, its why these quads go more places than most in rear wheel when others are in 4wd

these smaller quads cheap cool for putting around job site trails. Gonna find one. Always wanted to adapt one for my buddy in a wheel chair to be able to get on easy and come trail riding. His arms strong and he can slide on seat easy. May be a good project for crippled Veteran s.

I have a 87 250 4x4 pull cord was fully extended when I got it so I took it off lubed it and got it working put it back on but it doesn't grab it retracts but just don't turn engine over. any advice?

Hey Mustie and fellow 250 quad owners... i have an 87 just like the one in the video... and ...just like the one in the video, it absolutely HATES to cold start. I have had the carb in a carb cleaning machine and it made a massive difference when it eventually does run... however I have to pump a lot of gas down the plug hole to get er going.. whats the problem guy's? Mustie, dis you solve issue?

If you haven’t solved your issue yet, check the valve clearance. Mine was like yours, had no clearance at the intake valve. Adjusted and starts great now.

you can pull the pin out of the shifter to lock the front in any gear, but over 20 mph isnt a good idea.

This is not a King quad. I am the original owner of a1993 king quad 300(280cc), and I love it! I had a 2004 660 Grizzle, it was fast and fun, but no good for crawling through the woods and forget about being quite. C.V.T.s have no low in revers and cant crawl back out of what they can crawl in to. Not an issue for the King quad or the FWD 250. There is just no beating this five speed with high, low and supper low for slow quite work. A real utility quad and hunters dream. If you think Onimogs are cool this is the machine for you!
