Suzuki LTR 450 starter clutch

Never had one of those apart but very good to see how one comes apart in case mine goes. I have rebuilt a couple pull starts on small engines that was kinda similar with the little fingers that pop out and grab the flywheel.

Billy Ford actually that’s a great point. It’s pretty much the same idea as you would have on a recoil for a small engine.

You drained the engine oil On the clutch cover should be a sticker that says 400ml And then the oil tank in front of motor by rad that takes 1200 ml Def not enough oil in that machine

HEY GREAT VIDEO I SEE YOU DRAINED THE OIL AND ADDED OIL BACK INTO THE STATOR SIDE. IS THIS OIL NOT THE SAME AS THE ENIGNE OIL.

Is the clutch side connected to oil reservoir tank? When I fill my clutch up the oil reservoir level rises. I don’t get it because I would think they are isolated from each other

Awesome video! I have an 06 LTR 450, my battery won’t charge, I was told my my mechanic it is most likely my stator have you ever had this problem? What else could it be? How often would you recommend adjusting the valves I have owned it for about 7 months and I haven’t bothered to adjust them.

11:55 did you use loctite on the screws? I did'n do it on mine and about a month later they came loose and destroyed the stater/generator and flywheel on my quad.

Bogdan Tsymbalyuk Does it sounds one way and not the other? Also, when I spin the flywheel it doesn’t spin easy because of the compression. There’s resistance for sure

The only special tool I needed was the flywheel puller. If you search Amazon for ltr flywheel puller it should come right up. That’s how I found mine. Otherwise just normal shop tools

No bearing. It kinda looks like one but it’s the starter clutch.

Mine spins pretty free if that’s the gear your talking about. One way it won’t (if your starter clutch is working the way it’s suppose to) and the other way it should be free. If not might have something jammed in there. I see a lot of these actually come apart and throw pieces all over inside there. I got lucky and mine stayed together.

Wes Grippin the person I bought it from didn’t change the gasket but put gasket maker making it too tight on the wheel. Order new ones so hopefully everything else is good
