@Fabbin Adventures I know it's hard to give ourselves too much credit. As someone who is undergoing a frame off restoration on an 89 Vitara, I know (a little) of what this took. To see the end result of all the chopping, welding, fab and fitting; take it from me. Great job!

It's always nice to see your video, very educational. but I think you need to do what I did on my Suzuki Samurai. My Samurai will soon have video about what I have. Everyone was doing things differently and it's good. I have an tin top 1986 Suzuki Samurai and upgraded to a 1993 electronic fuel injection (EFI) I swap the wires harness out and put in a 93 harness and ECU, replace the 1.3 engine with a Suzuki Sidekick 8 valve 1.6 engine more reliable than the 16 valves and not too many moving parts compression wise, connected to Sidekick 4WD transmission and cut the T-case put in 4.24:1 and connected to the Samurai T-case with 6.5:1. I install a power steering from 95 4runner gear box with cooling coil, aluminum radiator and add a 2007 Toyota Prius electric power steering to turn my 37" tires.. I swap the rear axle to a Toyota 1994 FJ80 full float DANA 60 with 5:29:1 lock right front and rear and the front axle from a 1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60. The leaf spring I use the 1993 Isuzu Rodeo rear leaf for the Samurai front and rear axles. I use the Toyota pickup truck drive-line for both the front and rear axles, extended the front drive line and shorten the rear drive line with a double cardan drive-line. I build a home made missing link shackles for the front and rear and a body lift of 3", I custom build the front bumper with 1/4" thick inner winch bumper and put a 9,500Lb for the speed master winch. My tires sizes are 37" on a 17" rims. I add an external high pressure fuel pump for easy fix. I converted the air condition from a sidekick into an air compressor, I also add many other add on gadgets such as MXT400 Midland high frequency radio communication, LED head light, roof racks with off-toad lighting. No jeep can go where I go because I have the gear ratio capability and Jeep does have the power but that's Okay.at least I didn't break down on the toughest trails just to enjoys natures scenic view.and that the fun will never stop. I would like to see if anyone come to close to what I have, I've seen guys with the 2.0 Chevy Geo Tracker but none has the gear ratio capability yet. Lets share ideas and how to stay small but most capable than Jeep. Keep add more video on building Suzuki Samurai and hope to see y'all on the trails some day. Thanks!

Wow, that sounds like quite the rig you got there! I really love the look of the samurai... would you recommend it as a daily driver as well as a mild offroader? (I live in a rual area with lots of gravel roads, but about an hour away is a city (techanally a town but 30k people is a lot for me lol) and I think its a nice, cheap car, to learn how to drive in. But judging as its old i'm thinking lots of maintenance, and lots of gas refills. Is this correct?
@FabbinAdventures
@FabbinAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Well they are simple to work on so doing most maintenance can be done your self depending on your mechanical abilities. But...they are not overly powerful or fast for highway driving unless you upgrade the motor to a 1.6 8v or 16v. Also not very quiet or comfortable for long trips, id say no more than a couple hours. Good vehicle to learn on and can be made super capable off road! If you havent already, check out my other videos, lots of "how to" Samurai stuff and wheeling/jet boat vids. Make sure you subscribe, ill be going back to weekly videos soon.

Thanks for the great videos thinking ab0ut putting turbo on my 1.3 but I see you prefer putting a 1.6 in. I am not o much a winter user of my sammy - was that the main drawback. My 1.3 is still a good engine with 160 compression so I would hate to throw it away
@FabbinAdventures
@FabbinAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah that was the main draw back other than i think putting the turbo on my 1.3 was the beginning of the end of it. The 1.3 was never meant for a turbo and i think just bolting one on without doing proper modifications is asking for trouble. Swapping in the 1.6 16v was cheaper and better all around. More low end grunt, better top end and drivability. I will never steer anyone towards a turbo again. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
