I have an SCX-56. It amazes me every day. I realize that higher-level models have advanced features and nuances, but I don't consider the SCX series as a "starter" range of harmonicas. I own other chromatics at this price point and the SCX excels. Thank you for presenting yours.

i have a Suzuki SCX 56 and it is very nice to play the reeds are soft and it has a mellow tone. I like the quality of the Suzuki harmonica and its price point. I also have a Seydel de luxe steel with the steel reeds which i don't like so much i find it harder to play and has a more piercing tone. Is the Suzuki Sirius similar to the SCX range in tone.

I really like my SCX 64 that I bought back in 2016. It has a good amount of playing on it and it is holding up pretty well. The price has gone up a bunch since then, but it’s definitely a great design. Does this old one have the 2 piece mouthpiece or 3 piece? I found one older one that has a back plate on it.

Hi! Good to hear. This one has the two part mouthpiece system, so no back plate. I have one SCX48 from 2009 which has a back plate, so I think it must have changed somewhere between 2009-2011. I think this two part system with intergrated backplate is really a genius design.

Ten years, that’s awesome. I’m happy with my SCX so far after a month, and very happy to hear I might get 10+ years from it. What advantages would I get from the Chromatic harmonicas in the next price bracket up ($300 to $500)? Thank you for helping.

Higher priced harmonicas often has other materials in the material, different feel in the mechanics and for Suzuki you will get a thicker reed plate and longer reeds when buying the G48/Sirius series. They have another sound and feel.

Rubbers - yes. Spring - no. I have never replaced a spring on a chromatic actually.

While I love most of my harmonicas, including Seydel, Tombo and Suzuki, I really prefer Hohner's tuning to all of them.
