Suzuki will never have another factory rider such as Kevin Schwantz. His charisma, his ability to entertain the crowds whilst racing and his utter determination to win is what makes a legend.

Amazing rider (Kevin), as well as the bike (branded by Pepsi). Maybe not the most competitive, but one of the most beautiful 500cc to see - in the history - thanks the brand, the shape and right colours the copy the US flag.

Those were great days in Grand Prix racing. Kids today haven’t a clue how tough those 500’s were to ride on the edge and Kenny,Eddie,Wayne, and Kevin were the best America have produced. The Moto GP bikes today are so mild mannered with all the electronic rider aids compared to the wild 500’s.

Not many people would ride my 500 Kaw. especially after they realized you needed big nads to push it to the limit. There weren't enough road racing tracks to ride it on locally.. Nortons MIGHT have been Harley slayers, (that ain't saying MUCH!, but they couldn't even compete with my H-1.. My little brother was riding 1st. thru 3rd. gear wheelies in the dirt hitting on 2 out of 3 cylinders.. (I had thrown a wrist pin racing a 1000 Kaw.) He said he could ride 1st - 5th gear wheelies if it was running right. After repair he probably did.. Wouldn't fess up.. Heck I didn't care as long as he didn't get hurt..I bet a Norton couldn't pull a 60 mph wheelie.. Riding in the dirt was challenging.. Ain't no speed kinit..!

love the confusion on Gardners face (even to this day) how he couldn't understand how Kevin was able to go so fast on what was essentially a crap bike

Loved that time, Wayne, Wayne, Kevin, Kevin, Eddie, Darryl, Randy, Mick i know I've forgotten some. We were glued to the tv for the whole race every time. Personal favourites were the first two Phillip Island rounds, but every race was awesome. I was totally gutted when that kitty litter wrecked Wayne's back. Should be grass and air fences. I still have a picture of him on my wall sliding around a corner sticking his finger up at the pjotographer.

This was real MOTOGP. The only rider left in MotoGP today who lived it is Rossi and he should retire before he gets hurt. With today’s tech there is no reason not to bring 2 strokes back other than BS Politics.😎

Rainey hated Kevin because he felt Kevin had everything handed to him, his parents owned a motorcycle shop,he got to ride sheenes 86 gsxr at and won , etc and Wayne had to make his way up the ranks. Rainey was buttsore is all. Glad Kevin beat him and won more races anyway. Wayne was great but Kevin was great too.
