Radio Nepal was established on 2 April 1951. Over the years, Radio Nepal has strengthened its institutional capacity considerably and diversified itself in terms of program format, technical efficiency, and coverage. Radio Nepal airs programs on Medium Wave and FM frequencies. Regular broadcasts cover a duration of 24 hours every day which includes 4 hours of province broadcasts from 14:00 hrs. to 18:00 hrs. FM Kathmandu, the first FM-Channel in Nepal covering Kathmandu valley and adjoining areas was started in 1995 from its premises at Singh Durbar, Kathmandu.
