You ought to try some proper wide field eyepieces in your Dobsonian. An 82 degree eyepiece will give you the space walk feel
@gonguereguere24042 жыл бұрын
Hi Nodders, I also got the set and would say that 20mm and 15mm are quite good for the price but 9mm and 6mm suffer kidney-beaning. Do you notice the same?
@kamilmoucka68112 жыл бұрын
@@gonguereguere2404 I have a 6mm eyepiece from this series and along with my 12" Dobsonian it is simply outstanding. As for the kidney effect, yes you are right, it does suffer from it. That's why I fitted the eyepiece with a "special eyecups" to prevent my eye from deviating and to keep it fixed at the right distance and position.

I'm a beginner with a new Orion 6 inch Dobsonian. I brought this full red line SVBONY set with and the SVBONY 21-7 mm zoom eyepiece to replace the 2 eyepieces that came with my scope. The wide field of view is exceptional. The clarity and light penetration is far superior to the included eye pieces. I never tried Televue or any of the other high end eyepieces but I must say that I am very pleased with these SVBONY eyepieces. The zoom eyepiece does not have the field of view that I need for searching the deep sky objects but was great for the moon and planets. Also, I like the Zoom for attaching to my cell in order to have multiple magnification options without having to detach the phone from the adaptor. I just wanted to share my thoughts. Thanks for the great videos.

Managed to get a stunning crisp view of the moon with one of these. Truly impressed given the price. Was a little disappointed with colour aberration around the edges of the moon, and I was completely disappointed when viewing stars as I couldn't get any to focus. That said, I was using a large scope where such issues could have been more pronounced. Mightn't be too bad with smaller optics. Definitely worth a try for the price point.

Hello Jason! I purchased this exact set a while back and am more than pleased with their quality and performance! The 15° doesn't get much use as I have a 14° E.S. with 82° FOV, but the other 3 are used with every observing session. I have an 8" and a 12" dob and they work well in both scopes. I was glad to hear that you liked them, too. Hoping you have clear skies. Thanks again

These are decent eyepieces and they are nice and clear to look through. The FOV was measured to be around 65 degrees which is still very good. My only complaint is that they suffer from kidney beaning. Some focal lengths more than others. All in all they are a very good step up from the eyepieces supplied with most telescopes. Another great video Jason 👍

This is an excellent recommendation, thanks for the review Jason. Very helpful. I was unsure about how much I should spend on an affordable first eyepiece upgrade or what viewing characteristics I would even like. I had the stock achromats included with my Heritage 130p scope. After watching your review it seemed like a no-brainer and I got the Svbony UW 15mm for AU$55 (US$38) to try it. Straight away it's a winner. Quality metal construction, nice wide lens and expansive field of view, sharp at the centre with great contrast. Stars do gradually get blurred towards the edges but the wide field of view means that it's hardly bothersome (worth mentioning the achromats also suffer some blurring too). Overall it's terrific. And now the 20mm is on sale from Svbony themselves for AU$48 (US$33.50) which is.....ridiculously good value, for what you're getting.

Hello Jon. Its usually the case with cheap high powered eyepieces that's why I always recommend (especially on a budget) a good quality barlow lens and avoid cheap high powered eyepieces. I have the 20mm focal lenght of this "red band serie". Is it possible that I have a beter/nicer view with a normal plossl? I've seen a lot of good reviews about this red band serie and I thought the views would be an upgrade in comparison to a plossl. But for me it turn out the other way... . Is it a personal matter or is there something like a "faulty eyepiece"? With my redband the view is much dimmer and the biggest problem is that it is very difficult to get a good focus. With my plossl I have got bright clear views and I turn my focuser 2 times and the view is in focus.

What would be *super* helpful is a direct comparison between this and the gold ring 66° UW (Orion Expanse), as they're comparable price and specs. Pairing the 6mm with the small svbony 0.5x focal reducer on a f4 reflector reduce the "scope induced" astigmatism. It is no longer a 6mm EP, rather a 8mm one but the quality of the off-axis really improved on a f4 reflector. Of the redline serie the 6mm is the only one having this behaviour . The pair (6mm+0,5x) can also be barlowed without loosing quality. Flocking the inside is also improving the quality of the EP. Great on Moon and planets. Worth a try

Does a wider angle give the same view as a low power with a lesser angle? So does a 20mm with 68 fov give the same kind of observation as a 25mm with a 50 fov?
@1DesertPirate2 жыл бұрын
Roughly speaking, first find the magnification of a given eyepiece with a given telescope by dividing the focal length of the telescope by the focal length of the eyepiece. For example, a 1000mm telescope objective using a 20mm eyepiece will produce a magnification of 50X. Now take the apparent field of view of the eyepiece and divide it by the magnification and that will give you the true field of view. So, with the SV bony 20mm UW field eyepiece with the 68º apparent field of view, the true field one will see in the sky through the 1000mm scope would be 68/50 or roughly 1.36º. The 25mm eyepiece in your question would produce 40X on the 1000mm telescope, and with the 50º field of view eyepiece, the true field of view would be 50/40 = 1.25º.

Even on a telescope with f/5, they show a very good and sharp picture! 😎👌🔭 But the 6mm eyepiece is just terrible, unfortunately 😒 It gives such a disgusting picture that I immediately sold it. And then I heard the same thing about it from many astronomers I knew. I don’t know what’s wrong with it, but the picture through 9mm with a rather cheap 2x Barlow lens even better than just through this 6mm 🙄🤷♂

The 66° svbony with the yellow band, is the Orion Expanse. I dont have any, but of the eps Ive examined, Ive found the difference between the Svbony and Orion/Sirius is that the Orions have one or two elements edge blackened (usually the field lens and usually poorly) and the Svbony have none. That said, I was surprised to find my Celestron X Cel had only one edge blackened element. A sharpie job on it, made a noticeable difference.

well, due to the fact that the eye can see better, though only if the camera is bad. I shoot through these eyepieces on the camera of the xiaomi redmi not 10 phone, by serial shooting, or in video mode, in order to fix the details that the atmosphere blurs. and then, as a result of processing, it is possible to pull out details that are absolutely invisible to the eye. so you're wrong.

Yeah ok, so you do stacking, made it sound very very exceptional though 👏 😀 . I'm positive that what Jason referred to, was the fact that no photo will ever recreate the actual view. And yes, you can get rid of atmospheric turbulence with stacking, sharpen with registax wavelets. In DSO AP you can get pull more stars in with longer exposures, higher iso, get rid of noise too etc etc, nonetheless it will still be a 📸 However if your Huawei suddenly got update with better DR ( dynamic range ) than human eye, I'll be getting one myself 😆😆

How does it compare to cheaper SvBony 23mm 62° eyepiece?
@smalloptics7532 жыл бұрын
Not much in it really.. With lower powered eyepieces it's more forgiving in the overall visual quality test but the UW is the winner of the two but only by a little .

Thank you! This is my first eyepiece set. I've bought them and was amazed after original eyepieces. I have 114 mm, f900 mm reflector telescope and with svbony I can see full moon in 100x! With 20 mm eyepiece I can find M57 in Lyra without any problem, because angle of view accommodates a distance exactly between Sulafat and Sheliak. These eyepieces are really bright and good!
