Lmao my cats aren't as refined, we just call them lil' shit or other weird nicknames, which are nicknames of nicknames of nicknames and have completely lost any meaning now lol My girl is currently titinha, and my boy pipito. I have no idea which nicknames these nicknames came from tbh, but they will become a new nickname in a few months for sure

one thing i really appreciate is that you are so patient even in the face of his displeasure. it must have taken a lot of hard work to get to this point. seeing you has led me to have a lot more patience when it comes to my cat. instead of getting sad and feeling like a failure when my cat protests grooming/medicine/emergency wipies, i now ride it out (even if she attempts a scratch or bite) and me being calm and collected has made dealing with these things SO! MUCH! EASIER! for both of us. thank you and hope you and your loved ones have a great year ahead 💜😸

Totally agree. Finding your own chill when facing a grumpy cat is critical. Even if you're only pretending you're not stressed, the cat knows. I'd say they have sixth sense for these things, but maybe a stressed person just smells different.

@@samwiseraleigh7833 Absolutely true, I bet our sweat and micro-movements tip them off 😆 It's soooo rewarding to finally get to that mutual place with a spicy cat though! She might be a panicked, speedy, defensive terror at vet visits, but my little fur baby lets me grind her nails regularly (she even reminds me herself now!!) and that's more than enough for me .. cats are worth ALL the patience 😻

Cats are often scared of the pain that might happen when you're cutting their nails if you accidentally cut too close to the quick. It's so easy to do even when you don't mean to and it only takes it happening one time for them to remember that bad experience for the rest of their life! If anyone has a cat like this, I would recommend adding in some positive reinforcement like treats (the softer and tastier the better!) while you're doing this so that it's a nicer experience for them! If they won't take the treat because they're too worried then dial it back a notch and just get them used to you picking up or even just touching their legs first. With time and repetition, this makes nail clipping into a positive thing rather than something scary! ❤

Nail clipping can often (but not always) go smoother if you can get them while they're sleeping on a couch or bed and disturb them as little as possible. Some cats just never get accustomed to it and let you know it very clearly.
