as a child 10 years old living in Armenia, when Disco Dancer movie came out in 1984 I was in love with Jimmi, this was the most famous Indian movie with the best song jimmi jimii everyone was sinigng this song, we would also play on piano and start singing.

i was married to a white russian/canadian for 8 yrs, and when she spoke hindi - it WAS PERFECT north indian accent. She was somehow able to pronounce the words perfectly. Russians somehow are able to pronounce the words the same way as we do. PERFECTLY>

Russian language have took some influences from persian and indian. And there are cultural influences at least from gypsy culture as well as some influence from west (in language some loanwords from west) But I think some of the russian consonants are the biggest reason: but I am not native russian so I can not say for sure
