Overscored but she represented the end of an era where gymnastics still had dance. As the rules changed, Sveta's gymnastics got fuglier and fuglier which represents the entirety of the sport. However, she got away with form breaks, bad landings, basic difficulty, and bad pirouettes on bars in a way most other gymnasts didn't get away with.

Sveta is pretty much 90% legs, coupled with her teammates always not taller than 5 feet, makes her seem like such a giant. In reality, she's only an inch taller than Aliya Mustafina or Viktoria Komova, and an inch shorter than Sandra Izbasa, Kyla Ross and Sophie Scheder.

I just finished an article with Khorkina and she was asked about the Nassar situation and abuse in the sport. Her response was dreadful. She actually said the athletes were looking for fame. She continued to victim shame. She shouldn’t be the athlete rep for gymnastics. Maybe she can tell us how she got her job in the government of Russia. She went where the money was. Kind of like Alina Kabayeva. She became Putins mistress.

I mean she wasnt a bad gymnast , she was very talented and dealt with her height well, and put it to her advantage, but i never got the fuss about her , like she never was clean on floor and had enough difficulty on the other events , beam was ok , and her hihlight was bars , if it wasnt for the scoring 10.0 system she would be very much ..screwed

I think she was great in a lot of ways, far from the best but her uniqueness can't be compared to any other gymnast. Svetlana brought personality and enthusiasm to all her work and commanded both respect and attention. In her prime though, she was definitely the best gymnast on bars and beam for sure
