Everything about her is insane! Her turnout and flexibility (especially in her back) and don't get me started on her feet. Idol
@serbanescusimona7 жыл бұрын
Gracie Laird Her feet are amazing indeed. That's what the height gave her in particular. Because I saw her in fast parts and she, despite her technique, danced like any tall dancer in the world: struggled to keep up that fast pace because of her long legs and arms. Like they were always left behind. I guess it's almost impossible to avoid that, can't say, because I am a dancer (not a ballerina) of 1.65 m, and although I am sad for not being taller, I was told my height was ok for dancing. In fact, my instructor is even smaller.

@@serbanescusimona Many of us love the elegance and grace from that height advantage Zakharova posseses. her mastery of ballet is obvious at every move. It's like watching a giraffe move its long neck. We don't say that the giraffe is slow. We say they're graceful and thrilling. Sadly, at this time early 2023, there's only one place to see her perform, the Bolshoi, and few of us have access to Russia to do so. She's in her prime. I do hope this bar will be lifted soon. This amazement is lost to videos and interviews, not performances. Besides, tickets to the Bolshoi are surprisingly low priced, but the hotel will be the opposite. She is the star. There are a few others, but this one is so exciting, she takes my breath away, runs up my heart beats, and in my mind, I am clapping effusively.

This takes more strength, coordination, concentration and exactness than any martial art. Svetlana is often criticized for the fact that she is unorthodox and doesn't conform to the "guidelines" of properly accepted ballet. To hell with all that! Svetlana is the best the world has ever seen and she is original. Ludwig was criticized for not conforming to the accepted format for the symphony. Afterwards, his format was mimicked and is now the world standard. Always be yourself. Real artist do not conform. They set the precedent.

everyone seems to be commenting that she has less artistry and character than other ballet dancers? i think all dancers have a different way of portraying their role in a ballet & i don't think she should be being criticized because of different approach to a character.
@luceafarul5795 жыл бұрын
Svetlana has a lot of artistry, the criticism came from the fact that she’s a bit stiff especially in the upper body. Her focus is on perfect lines, delicate footwork, and high extensions, these would inevitably make her dancing a bit stiff. But she is a fantastic actress who really becomes the character. Just watch her swan lake dance with Roberto Bolle, see how her facial expression changes. When she’s white swan vs black it really looks like she’s two completely different person, one innocent and delicate and the other evil and mischievous. Whereas every other dancer just makes their face look sad vs lots of smiling. That’s the difference between a true artist and somebody who just has a lot of good techniques

Even the famed ballerinas have known that film is one experience of the performance and the live stage is the other experience of the performance...I was astounded with the age of Margot Fonteyn's performance in Chopinana: her performance was not what you would experience as the same to what was captured on film. The depth and deminsion of the lines and style are just not the same of each ballerina. It is quite interesting to be caught with the perspective change of film vs. live stage performance. The artistry of ballet is conveyed and perpetuated in multiple nuances of a simple 8 count. Fascinating form is the ballet, especially when we come to the extraordinary talents that are the prima ballerinas and ballet danseurs...they can carry into a range not expected.
