Super video, Sveta, as always! It ranks right up there with your Sochi mountain river vacation video a year ago (my fave’). Kristina’s home garden and cooking reminded me of staying at my grandparents’ home when I was a child and helping out in the garden and kitchen… but instead of khachapuri it was piroshki and not strawberries but blackberries, raspberries and gooseberries 😊

Hi Svetlana. Thanks for your video. Kazakhstan countryside remembers me to my childhood I spent with my relatives. The place you visited looks so peaceful and the people who live and children are growing up on the countryside with nature, animals, their own garden are happier than people who live in the cities. Cities are often overcrowded, loud and the life there is expensive. I think people on countryside are more relaxed in spite of sometimes hard work in the garden and house, long and cold winters. My relatives in Emsland / NW Germany had a huge garden, fruits, vegetables as well. Their food grew in their own garden. The time I spent there was a good time. Salade Olivier is very delicious, I could eat it every day 💕 Hajapoury is similar to pide, isn't it? Wishing you a fantastic time.

This reminds me a lot of my childhood 60 years ago on the fringes of London. My family kept chickens, grew strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, beans, tomatoes, potatoes and more. It was so good to come home from school and go into the garden to pick the fruits. These things have largely died out in the UK, at least in the cities. So hold on to what you have in Kazakhstan - these things are precious.

When we pick leaf lettuce here, we don't rip it out by the roots as it will keep growing if you just harvest the leaves.. just don't take all the leaves or hurt the roots n you will get multiple harvests..

Kazakhstan is awesome, Svetlana. You got to go to Astana, the capital, it's like being in the middle of Manhattan, New York. Svetlana, they make the best pelmeni in Kazakhstan. They say the pelmeni in Kazakhstan is better than any pelmeni you get in Russia.

Wow, what a beautiful morning! I have a small garden but it is not very productive. I think the dirt is not fertile enough. Gardening is good for the soul. Very relaxing and therapeutic.
