Fully loaded with 70,000 tons of Australian Coal the Bulk Carrier OCEANUS, less than a year old, grounded on a Mid-Pacific reef off the Island of Satawal (Federal States of Micronesia). The vessel was re-floated in an operation partly involving cargo transfer into a second specially outfitted Bulk Carrier.
The casualty was returned to her owners ten weeks after the accident by SVITZER Salvage tug YAGUAR after discharge under Salvage Team supervision at the repair yard as per class instructions.

I just love watching these salvage videos. This company also takes such care to 'do no harm' to a lovely area. Very appreciated ...very professional. The steps taken to refloat a vessel aground are amazing. Remarkable job, folks!

@Ian Walter The people of Satawal are famed for their brewing so I think they can handle it and, while Marlboro might be slightly crude, tobacco is a traditional maritime commodity.

Thank you for adding the back ground info and the local people and culture. In my youth I was privileged to travel in the South Pacific among the island people. They were so generous and fun loving people. As a boy, what a way to spend a childhood. Screw computer games, let's go swimming and climbing coconut trees. No windows or locks on the thatch hut!

I half expected the company to have a new tractor delivered to the island for the inhabitants. At any rate it was nice of those guys to try and get the old one running. Good video.

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satawal "In 1994, the freighter Oceanus ventured out of the main shipping channel when its captain decided to peek at topless Satawalese women. The freighter ran aground on the nearby Wenimong Reef, the primary source of food for the islanders, and 13,000 square meters of the reef were ravaged. The freighter's insurer, the North of England P&I Association, ended up paying US$2 million in compensation to the Satawalese."
