Best episode yet. I think this episode shows the divide between the GWR and LMS engines. I love the character of Stan and Max especially. Max reminds me of De La trip in how he acted as if he were LMS built despite being built at Swindon and joined in with the teasing of Bride. I love how Stan actually shows how he cares for engines on the line of Lord Stovell's. To add to that he was someone who was forgiving towards Max after he was found out. As I said this was a great episode.

it was very nice of the Black five to lend the GWR engine a buffer with her passenger train when she broke down outside the engine shed. I thought that the new engine Max was one of the 8F engines built at Swindon during WW2 for a moment.

Right at the end, I wish someone should have mentioned to Frank there was a war on when Max was built in 1944 (I checked the number for the build year). As Frank was built in 1951 at Horwich (oddly, my great grandfather was a fitter and turner there in the mid-1950s), he clearly hasn't been told of the struggle locomotive builders on the LMS were having during the conflict.

Given how many Stanier engines I'm seeing, I'm surprised that this isn't sponsored by BMG. And here's a thought, were some 8Fs actually built at Swindon in real life? One last thing, I really don't like the prejudice 46108, 45606 and 44687 have. How did they end up with such an attitude?

Yes 8f were built in Swindon during the war and a little time after. From what I have been told
