That introduction was pure beauty. You guys really need to take it down a notch on your writing and directing quality. My pencil and crayon drawn scenes are shameful compared to yours. Spending so much time flying through the Harbour, then across the channel, past houses, all the background noise.... Wow. I've typed a lot. Anyway, I enjoyed it

What an incredible premier of the second season of what has definitely become my favorite series on KZbin! Indeed, there is such much to unpack in this episode, and the character dynamics are so shocking and yet work so seamlessly - it's incredibly good writing. I really do feel for Shaw and his own grief, and the way that this has fed into his fears and anxieties we saw in the first season have twisted and turned him into a very tragic character on a downward spiral. It wasn't something I had expected, but man does it work so well and set up such an interesting premise for this season onwards. The great divide that is seeming to open between the engines on the branch, and how Shaw is very much being the Iago archetype pouring poisoned honey into Rooke's ears (if he had any) to make himself seem more essential. It's so manipulative and cruel, but again it's done in such an amazing way that it makes sense for his character and that you can kind of empathize with his position and fears/anxiety. A good tragic character needs to both be relatable to the audience and also have complex, understandable motives, and Shaw achieves both of these in excess. I really like as well how we've gotten a bit more character development for some of the secondary engines as well: we can see the more defensive and short-tempered/righteous anger of Ben towards Shaw over his closest friend, and even with Olly in how he stands up to Shaw and vents his own frustrations on it. I'd love to see even more on these two and Rod as well going forward and how they have all coped and dealt with their own grief over the loss of Bride. Stan was incredibly strong throughout this episode, and I'm extremely excited to see some of his potential arcs going forward, such as supporting Max, seeking out Hercules for guidance, dealing with the fallout from Shaw, and supporting the branch and its engines whilst trying to live up to the legacy that Bride has left. It will be cool to also learn more about Windsor and Hardwick too moving forward, and how they get dragged into all of this. The opening titles is absolutely superb, and I really hope that this season we get to begin seeing more of the island, such as the colliery up at Bloodmoor or going down to Alfredshaven. But most of all, I am so intrigued and excited to see whether Shaw's arc will turn to one of redemption, or one that may see him leave the island forever and cause creature upset in the balance of things. Amazing work as always Andy, don't ever stop being awesome and keep up the fantastic route building!

Loved this episode. It was incredible seeing how everyone interacted with one another. Stan trying to do his best to hold the railway together. Ben and Hercules wanting Rooke to be his usual self again. And Shawe. I really like how he has an antagonistic role this episode. Reminds me of lyrics from Metallica's master of pupetts Master of puppets, I'm pulling your strings Twisting your mind and smashing your dreams Blinded by me, you can't see a thing Shawe manipulates and twists Rooke's mind in a way that makes Rooke slip deeper into a depression. As I said great episode and can't wait to see more.

Andy mate you've absolutely knocked it out of the park with the opening episode to Season 2 seeing Shawe become an antagonistic character is certain quite a change but one that hopefully will not lead to his departure from the island maybe a run to Redwick with Hercules would help him out. Well, what an absolutely stellar first episode! It was a really interesting turn to see Shore of all character becoming so using and selfish towards Rooke. And it definitely felt like the right choice having Rooke be the most effected by Bride’s leaving. I won’t lie I nearly cried a bit in a few parts as I myself lost the nan I was the closest to earlier this year and it feels like that side of the family’s just fallen apart since. So it hit extra close to home. Again, absolutely brilliant work lad, keep it up, can’t wait to see this season continue and how it’s going to play out!

Rooke's turnaround with Ben and Stan and the ending with Lord Stovelle was heartwarming but Shaws downturn using Rooke's grief for himself is worrying Anyhow one of the best episodes of the series along with Old Faithfull and Cathedrals of Steam, so now the TLDR: great episode as always as one of if not the best episodes
