Don’t put all of us in one basket. I am in my mid-70s. Lived in America for more than fifty years. I am retired software engineer & currently own a business in the Houston area. I will never advocate against the ambitions of the youth. On the other hand to keep your eyes on the prize. Just follow the laws. Keep away from bad company. You will be fine.

How successful you will become will have a lot to do with what documentation you have on arrival and who you have to advise you on arrival. Today thanks to the Internet you don't even need anyone's advice anyway. Planning well comes third. Life is a marathon, You can have all 3 but yet fail in the long run. Note; in my opinion only about less than 5% of the diaspora Ghanaian will become rich rich or fulfilled to their satisfaction. The good advice when you are ahead: Note - Some of the old people who have not made it are not from lack of good planning, but somewhere along the line, some stumbling block awaited them. To the young men arriving into the new era, make the most of it. It is easier now than 40-50 years ago when we arrived. So you have little excuse to fail!

DJ Nyame your question on his entry into IT response very shallow. Sometimes I don’t know whether it’s intentional thought program educative . Now there are several paths towards IT education either online or on campus education associate,bachelors education. Online courses ranges Comptia,Linux etc.

More than 5 ghanaian guys ( lol 3 from ucc computer engineering grad only work experience in gh) working for top I mean global companies hired straight from ghana even. The company dud everything for them. I work in recruitment. Companies are struggling to fund it talent. But the person need the right skills! If yih don't have work experience and you apply to a senior job know you won't get it.... I was allowed ti recruit people from all over also many Africans their Cc not up to date good enough for abroad. I help professionals with that via LinkedIn advising them. Not all is race. So many countries in Europe are hiring hiring talent from africa remote or relocating them.

I worked for top pharmaceutical company of of the biggest generic drug company in the Netherlands their head scientist head of a big department was a Nigerian man he even schooled there....and later came to the Netherlands. HE was an important leadership member of the company also the associate accountant director was a NIGERIAN I can go on. I notice often Nigerians they go for it take the risk, but we Ghanaians are too passive. You need to start someone and gradually go up. Can't just expect to get somewhere. Of the 2 Nigerians 1 spoke Dutch 1 not. I'm not saying it's easy vut saying when you got that skill you definitely can try for it. It's not just usa lol. Hoping to inspire some of the ghanaians to go for bigger dreams than just hustling life

Making $30 in Maryland, Virginia, DC is not a anything big deal because the cost of living over there is very expensive so in this case someone making 15 or 18 in less cost of living states if far better than those in high cost of living states that pays $30
