Troy you should consider using a log splitter valve on your press. You would then have an auto retraction feature. It detents the valve in the retract position and disengages when retracted fully. $60-70 from surplus center. Nice job just another idea

Just a tip from a farmer, we always plumb a hydraulic handle to move in the same direction as the ram. It's more intuitive, more safety.

Why don't you make an additional part with the same profile as the end of the broach, that locks on the end of the rams shaft which will allow you to force the broach all the way out, so you don't have to return it and use the punch? This could probably shave another 30 seconds off the production time.

simple design, to the point, and the shim used to offset the second cut is really a intelligent idea and easy way to using only a single broach tool, thanks for UPLOADING such brilliant ideas

Nice video. I think you may be able to get it down to a single pass if you go to a single pass broach. It's longer so you may have to retrofit a longer cylinder in there also.
