I worked at a restaurant in a country club here in Fl that had a fire. The sprinklers didnt even go off until we pulled the fire alarm. Im GUESSING the fire wasn't hot enough to trigger them. Only reason im saying this is bc a lot of ppl say that the story is fake bc the sprinklers went off. Maybe it's a state thing in case the fire doesn't trigger them, you can with the fire alarm.

I work in fire protection and fire systems, pulling a fire alarm will never set off fire sprinklers. They have a bulb in the center of the sprinkler that melts when it reaches a certain temp, which then releases the water

The Handy Van Aside from the obvious failure to fact check his lame lies the story itself is completely unbelievable. What person would be running around the building trying to stop these imaginary sprinklers with a phone to her ear as each sprinkler in the building shoots out 24 gallons of water per minute. There are typically 100-200 sprinklers throughout restaurants; that’s anywhere from 2,400 to 4,800 gallons of water a minute if they’re all going off like he claims. Totally believable....

I worked at Denny’s in a neighbouring city at this time! Head office sent out memos to staff not to break windows if the fire department calls! We all laughed at how stupid you would need to be to just do that. Found out a ur later about what happened. They ended up using the original prank call uploaded on KZbin as a training bit during the general managers conference! Angela was not fired. It was shocking how far she complied! And thank god they stopped themselves when the one guy said to throw ice in the friers! That was beyond too far! The prank happened at Denny’s in West Edmonton Alberta!

Oaml Yaa Article literally states that its true. On top of this, there are far more than just automatic sprinklers, and in a non residential building they use manual because latent IR from stoves, heat lamps, and microwaves would cause the sprinkler system to activate on a hot day. Decreasing sensitivity isn't practical, and kitchens still present a fire hazard, so they link it to the fire alarm in the kitchen and back of the restaurant.

Worst story I heard of about a prank call was my friend. He told me he called a McDonald's and said " hey I'm in the bathroom with no toilet paper" and the worker says " what" " I'm in the men's bathroom with no toilet paper, I don't wanna open the stall so could you toss it over the stall" and the person who took the call said " sure". After a couple minutes the person got back on the phone line just to ask " before I hang up, what the fuck is wrong with you?". Worst prank call I did was call a pizza hut in New York. If it's not obvious I asked for a boneless pizza, and it was definitely new York because immediately the person who answered said " can you suck my dick"

This sounds fake, as sprinklers are not set off by the fire alarm. They are instead set off when a small piece of heat sensitive metal inside the sprinkler itself gets too hot. This allows the sprinklers to only go off where a fire is located, preventing unnecessary water damage as well as not needing electricity to properly function. If this where real, the only result would be the alarm sounding. Funny story though.

NivlacACE the boss different places have different wiring and setups. Mainly because different outcomes could happen for different places. I'm pretty sure some McDonald's down here in Louisiana have it to where when a fire alarm is pulled, the sprinklers go off as well. I mean it would be kind of dumb to have a way to inform people that theirs a fire, but not have a way to deal with it as well
