Someone did a YT video on "Robert Boone" (the name on the CA #1). He was a WWII soldier that died recently. The family is just selling it. Robert stored them in an Attic while he was away at the war. A lot of the comics are pretty beat up.... but the good news was for his family, the comic found in the best condition, was the CA #1. 😁

In regard to purple labels, I’m honestly fine with some color touch and other minor issues but once you get into marrying pages then I’m out. I’d rather have a nicer copy of a book with minor color touch than a much worse copy blue label.

HBO’s Penguin was outstanding. Colin Farrell was amazing in every scene. I fell in love (literally)with Cristin Milioti as a crazy mob boss woman. Ending will knock the wind out of you. Very nice transition between The Batman and Batman 2 where Penguin will be the key villain.

We're not really seeing the market absorb these big books; it seems to be mostly dealers just swapping inventory amongst themselves

Not true. The last 3 Heritage Signature auctions were very strong and exceeded sales expectations. In many cases, record sales prices. I expect the same in this auction too. The high end comic market, including art, is still pretty robust.

I love their Catalogs! If you're into amazing eye candy they're perfect. High res pics in a high quality publication of books you rarely/never see. A lot of times they're the best possible examples in existence. I don't think they're worth the $50 they ask, but I get them for $20 shipped from a friend who gets them for free. I have 5 of them and I love them.

Great vid. Collection notation on the label (ex; Jon Berk) is certainly CGC's doing. I think stickers notating a collection (ex; Ruben Blades) is the respective auction houses doing.

The Purple Label is one of the biggest sore spots I have from CGC. restoration was widely accepted back in the 80’s and not looked down upon as it is today. I have a number of problems with CGC and this is one of them.

I get the page quality thing, but tbh it does not bother me at all. If I were a real player for all these high grade keys and could afford to be picky then maybe. But honestly as long as the cover is clean I’m good.

That original label 9.4 indicates an era when CGC was grading much more harshly and before cleaning and pressing was as advanced as it is now. Forseeably, that Batman 11 could really be a 9.6 if regraded today. To your point about purple (or even green) labels, they are only investment worthy if that purple label is the lone, highest grade assigned because that carries bragging rights, even if it has an asterix.

The market for golden age purple labels should be evaluated apples to apples. Of course everyone prefers a blue label all other things being equal. The question gets trickier when you ask would you rather have a 0.5 or 1.0 trash copy in a blue label or a beautiful restored copy? That is the choice of a larger buyers market that can’t afford a nice unrestored copy. As long as restored copies continue to sell for 50% less you will not have trouble selling them
