One of the most visited Hindu temples outside India, the Batu Caves are extremely popular with local pilgrims as well as international tourists. I have been doing this all my life, my dad has to be here every Thaipusam or his life will not be fulfilled. Now he is no more I have to continue with this tradition once Covid is over. That feeling once you have done the pilgrimage every year is great. Om Muruga. Being a 4th generation Malaysian of Indian descent not been to India before. He is not South Indian Hindu god. He is hindu god for all Hindus and popularly worshipped in the state of Tamil Nadu . He has temples across India 🇮🇳 and the world . Jai Kartikeya !

According to Mythology Shiva sent his family into all four corners of India. He sent his wife (Goddess Parvati East, his elder son Kartikeya (Murugan) to South, his younger son Ganesh to West while himself staying in the northern part. He did so to reach all people. Now the interesting part is that these Gods are very popular in their regions. Various forms of Maa Parvati ( Shakti ) are prevalent in the eastern part of India including Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Tripura. Similarly Sri Kartikeya (Murugan) is popular in South India, there are many temples in South dedicated to him. Sri Ganesh is popular in Western India that includes Maharashtra (Marathi land, your query) while Lord Shiva is popular throughout India though exceptionally more in northern India.
