Hinduism contains clear truth like this - however, it is not any easier for the Hindu to understand than it is for anyone else. The intellectual understanding is not enough - the true realization - it's as difficult or more difficult for the Hindu, and the same practices and desire and will are required for the Hindu to awaken. Do not think that you as a Hindu are better than others because you are closer to these clear and true teachings - all teachings can become a trap, and those heavily involved in teachings may fall in love with the teaching, not the truth the teaching is pointing to. Well I mean.... you didn't. Technically those fears weren't yours to begin with, they were the minds fears, fear for the body and mind. And the bliss, that too belongs to the mind, not to you. Remember, you - the real you - is the pure consciousness that illumines the bliss in the mind. You light up and witness the bliss, but it too will pass. Circumstances come and go from the mind like dust floating through a beam of light: the dust is there, but you don't know it or see it until the dust floats into the beam is lit up by the light, and you see it quite clearly, but only for as long as it is in that light. When it floats off to the side and out of the light, you lose sight of it. But in that analogy, the light itself is the pure consciousness - you, the witness of the fear and bliss which is felt in the mind.

I am sorry my friend what he is saying is way more than just one emotion(love). Even though it's a very strong and profound emotion but by no means it is the final truth. Love is just another emotion precieved by our consciousness much like hate, anger, envy etc. search of oneself goes way beyond that. To accept love, you have accept hate as part of human emotion. There can't be creation without destruction. Both are two different faces of one true power. Understanding this cycle of creation and destruction and your existence within it is true essence of self discovery as per my understanding.

If you realized the thuriya you will not be influenced by the three stages / phenomena (waking/dreaming/sleeping) What if I am influenced by the stages? When you are influenced by the three stages, you become prone to commit sins (cause troubles to other beings) or may commit unjust to yourself that you may intend to commit suicide expecting to be at sleeping stage where you will not feel the violence of wake or dream stage. By being aware of thuriya (the true nature of yourself) you can let the circumstanced by pass you without influencing you to do mistakes and wrong doings.

The practical application of Advaita Vedanta in everyday life is the realization that the individual person you think you are is illusory and the true nature of that person is the unchanging, limitless, and self-existent consciousness of brahman. This realization can bring peace of mind and a sense of security, as it allows one to let go of the need for the body-mind and its external circumstances to provide happiness and fulfillment. This self-knowledge can also lead to a shift in perspective, allowing one to approach life from a place of understanding that the material world is illusory and ultimately unimportant🙏🕉
@brianhyde5900 Жыл бұрын
Wonderfully said. What does the message of "You are God" do to human consciousness? It instils a sense of responsibility for life. The ability to respond, not react. When that sense of complete responsibility is in your hands, EVERYTHING changes completely --especially out of any victimization aspect. One will not feel responsible for one's unconscious behaviour, when identifying as a human 'subject to God' and relying on 'being forgiven' by God. Psychologically it absolves and disconnects one from transformation, and keeps us in endless loops of helplessness and sometimes reckless behaviour ("sinner saved by grace").

@@-logic6654 science is great for exploring the physical realm. No scientist has yet been able to actually explain what consciousness is or how it exactly works. We also are only starting to grasp the concepts of trauma, pain, passion or happiness. Spiritual practices have not focused on the external world but on the internal world for thousands of years. The problem with spiritual practices is that there are a lot of social constructs and rituals attached to them, but the underlying principle are scientific in their approach: refine what works and discard what doesn't. The entirety of yoga and meditation is an evolutionary progress of this principle spanning back to the dawn of human culture. Also all the scientific data (CT scans, meta studies, MRIs, HRV etc) pouring in about meditation and yoga is highly supportive of it actually working. The goal is to neither dismiss these practices (like you do) nor blindly follow them. The goal is to use these thousands of individual experiences and testimonies as a trail of bedcrumbs that should tell you that there is something to be found in spirituality and that it is beneficial. the goal of science is to focus even more on that and refine this essence from the spiritual practices. Once we manage that, we can scale this to make it easily accessible to the masses and help people around the world finding inner peace. Mysticism without the Mist.

Death is not the End, but it is new beginning ….. Architect of Universe The Simple Single Verse that explains the total purpose of creation of entire universe and humans in it. The Simple Single Verse that explains who m I and why have been I created ? But this Simple Verse requires extreme intelligent minds, with super power of reasoning, linking and connecting. What was the reason, He designed/created life and Death ? الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ ﴿الملك: ٢﴾ He is the One, Who designed Life and Death, so that He can test you, who is best in Performance (In His absence), He is the Greatest in Excusing /Forgiveness. 67:2 / 11:7. So, this verse explains purpose of life and death designing, to display His quality and property of Forgiveness/Generousness, He designed all this universe and life and death for that purpose. And this property of Forgiveness cannot be established, until Good and Evil (21:16/17/18/19) is designed, along with freedom of choice, and His absence, to bring to life this whole process, a creation with intelligence and wisdom is necessary. 91:8/9/10 Hope you understood now, to materialize this great property of forgiveness, whole structure of universe and intelligent species combination was designed. 45:22 So, this was that Simple Verse that explains the total purpose of creation of entire universe and humans in it. But, in reality it is not any death, but passing form transit point to prove you purpose of creation. But most of the corrupted religion are confused in describing purpose of creation of universe and considers death as end of live and or Regeneration and return to this planet again. In Islam Death is the new beginning The Reference Numbers are given to check and confirm for more details. Life after Death وَمَا جَعَلْنَا لِبَشَرٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ الْخُلْدَ أَفَإِن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ الْخَالِدُونَ ﴿الأنبياء: ٣٤﴾ And We did not create any earthly human (life) for infinity, before. But when they die (once) then, they will have entered eternal life. 21:34 كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ۗ وَنَبْلُوكُم بِالشَّرِّ وَالْخَيْرِ فِتْنَةً ۖ وَإِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿٣٥﴾ Everything that lives on earth, Shall die / should taste the Death. And in his life, We will test / examine him with…. Good and evil Hardship and ease Money and broken Pains and relaxation Suffering and happiness..... trails And then, they will come / return to us (for Awards or Punishment) 21:35 (with never ending life in hell or heaven). The Words “” Taste Death”” Explains the secret that, death is not end of life English the handicapped language tapered the imagination and vision of death with us. Taste death explains, you were there before you took birth on earth, and you were given short life on earth and by tasting death you will be returned to place from where you came. 2:28. So consider the Death as returning home, carrying certificated you achieved in your transit / examination life. أَفَحَسِبْتُمْ أَنَّمَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ عَبَثًا وَأَنَّكُمْ إِلَيْنَا لَا تُرْجَعُونَ ﴿المؤمنون: ١١٥﴾ In which thought/imagination/calculation are you ? (Do you think?) We have created you, meaningless / purpose / in vain?? (Do you think?) And you will NOT be return to Us (for accountability)?? (23:115)

@@rajeshpareek9803 Yes i can explain but taking references from scriptures do serve the purpose of gaining our trust, still it's not better than experiencing it by yourself, and not everything can be understood until one has the clarity of past experiences. So you say someone left the body in his dream, and actually died in the real world. From yogic scriptures, they'll say it was the prana that left the body, the life energy, which was either predestined for the soul or a voluntary decision made before taking birth on earth. It has happened many times, there are a few incidents like this explained by Sri Aurobindo as well. You can look that up here on the Internet. Each state of consciousness corresponds to an world of it's own, and it can be an attack of evil energies, which too had gathered by the same person owing to his own evil deeds. According to Upanishads however these worlds are illusory if seen from the point of view of the jivatman. Hope i explained

hi all I came across this video as part of my research on Vedanta and sufism. The level of correspondence between these traditions are startling and yet very little is written or spoken on this. I come from a Muslim background and when I read about Vedanta I am humbled . I have had many moments of epiphany when I witness the expression of absolute truth manifested in two different languages - the language of Vedanta and sufism - and yet the world is torn apart today due religious exclusivity and demagoguery. I only pray people listen to each other and appreciate the diversity the supreme being has sowed in this world , to express the truth , which has always been "One"

Yes when we start to realize the greater self of ourselves all the outer religion become kind of invisible. It is great to study about sufism,can you provide some good links about it?
@sanalkumars8 жыл бұрын
Sajid Shams, there is a real reason for it. Irrespective of the region, the hard qns in life are one and the same. The beauty is that the true enquirer is not trying to find an answer that fits the religious narrative, unconditional. And on these fundamental questions on 'who am I' it is not possible to have different answers irrespective of how independent these investigations are. If you don't look into Vedanta and Sufism and try to investigate it yourself by Observing your thoughts, better chances that you will gain that knowledge. At that point you will find that the semantic divisions are meaningless.
@sajidervish8 жыл бұрын
Sanal Kumar , It absolutely imperative that all differences are transcended for the realisation of truth, like you rightly pointed out the questions has always remained the same, how ever semantic differences has always present it self as a starting point, an anchor from which one can base his or her thought from. Which i believe is also critically important. In a country like India religion plays an extraordinary role in the daily lives of its people. So to realise the diversity and validity of other forms of religiosity in spite of ones own parochial adherence to his preferred creed is essential. so one has to be parochial and perennial , and my investigation is more in this direction .expecting your comment ....

Once Shri Ramkrishna Paramhansa said (in Bangla) : "জত মত, ততো পথ" (means the more the opinions, that many more are the way to find and join the GOD) . He was the religious guru of Swami Vivekananda. Swami-ji went ahead and propagated HIS teachings of Upanishads & Vedanta to a broader audience. . . I am subscribed to Quawwalli, Sufi devotion and this vedanta/upanishad lessons both ... (but not a follower of either, as I live in New York and like to wander all over the planet) . . And they are SO similar with one distinct difference. . . . In sufi, there is dualism ... there's ONE GOD, and you are YOU, and your ultimate goal is to become one ... join the GOD. (hence it's Dwaita ...means Dualism 'way' ) . . . whereas in this lecture, the 'I' and the 'GOD' are one entity ... hence adwaita ...means Oneness 'way' . . . to search the 'GOD' . . . Hope it helps!

Thank you for this download and your apology. As you know the originator of the method of asking, "Who Am I"' was Sri Ramana Maharshi. If He did not originate it, he gave the clearest explanation of it and proved it by being a fully Realized Gnani. Thank you again.

Wow! One of the most amazing, inspiring, thought provoking, and deeply moving lectures I have heard in my life. Swami Sarvapriyananda exudes clarity of thought. He has a deep understanding of the Mandukya Upanishad. How I wish I could attend one of his live lectures just to be around him and sit by his side! Thank you so very much, Swamiji. This lecture itself has an extraordinary power... if you are doing a really hard mental exercise or research or complex meeting then just pause for a second and let your mind wander to this lecture... especially the first story about Janaka Raja. Almost miraculously your mind clears up and you can focus and understand every concept. Try it. A mini superpower.

I don’t who why, but listening to this feels like some lecture on quantum reality. (Note that Schrodinger himself wrote in his autobiography that he got hints/inspiration about QM from upnishada.). And now I , somewhat, understand why he said that.😯

This has solved my many years pending questions i.e who am I that no one can easily explain. Swami Vivekananda says, “He who runs away from the samsara, spends time in the caves of the Himalayas to meditate and die, has missed the way. He who plunges headlong in to the vanities and foolishness of life in the samsara, lives, earns to make ends meet or flourish, also has missed the way. So, then what is the way? As Swami Vivekananda says it is, “Divinize the life itself’.
