for sure man. I picked up one of the self inflating ones for season

I’m glad you like the motor! Try experimenting with different props and maybe a shorter shaft and that should add some more speed.

Jordan I have a 25 hp. Kohler engine on a Go-devil on a 16x36 Semi V Haul man this thing is a Tank as long as the boat will float your going . But a piece of advice get a Push Pole something with a Duck Feet on it so it doesn't push in the mud . Getting out to push been there and done that . Enjoy the long tail .

ya that is a good idea. I'll will look into them

Do you have problems with water coming over the transom when you stop i run a 18 hp thinking about upgrading but worried that it might be little heavy in the back of boat
@davidcarter13722 жыл бұрын
@@jeremybahm2163 I did when I first got it, water would come up over the transom when I would come off plane but I got a pair of beavertail float pods welded onto the back of my boat and that has stopped water from coming over
@jeremybahm21632 жыл бұрын
Do the pods affect the performance i heard that pods don't do as well with longtails
@davidcarter13722 жыл бұрын
@@jeremybahm2163 I’ve had no negative issues with them, they lift the rear of the boat some, I get on plane faster, and I can run I little shallower with them

Long tails work completely different than surface drives there are tons of videos on how to use them on KZbin and official long tail websites with a lot of tips and tricks on how to use them.

Thanks for sharing! I'm looking into a long-tail for my Jon boat. One thing I keep hearing is "It will wear you out." How hard was it to you? Looked like you were moving it fairly easy...
@DuckGunChronicles3 жыл бұрын
Any mud motor. Longtail or surface drive wears you out. But you can get in some cool places you couldn't otherwise. I just picked of a beaver damn mud runner can't wait to try it out as well
@rbrew2 жыл бұрын
If I may chime in, I have the mud skipper in the 6.5 kit which is pretty much the same thing. I beefed up the motor to around 9-10hp and yeah… it’ll wear you out. You can drop your prop size and lose a little bit of speed but it won’t tear your shoulder up after a long day. I just use mine to get from point a to point b for hunting trips and it’s no big deal.

Not sure if it was you or the motor, but looked like the prop wanted to come out of the water a lot. You can bend the skag if needed to help keep it in the water. Make sure you carry extra props, I believe those are aluminum and they do break easy, but are very cheap. If you are looking for a change, I def recommend PPF, top notch company and one of the easiest handling mud motors. And keep that kill switch on ya! If you get tossed out, that motor will keep goin, and your gunna have a bad time!
@DuckGunChronicles3 жыл бұрын
ya I bought a shorter shaft for it. I think it was a bit too long. I may need to bend the skag as well
@midwesternwaterfowlers57193 жыл бұрын
The wider the boat is, the longer the shaft you want is my understanding. The prop is supposed to ride in the crest of the wake. If the boat is too wide, its gunna mess that up. Those motors are not really designed to go further into the water than that.
@DaddyDuck3653 жыл бұрын
Looks like you were going through what is called water Hyacinth. It has a sticky wax like substance that will stick or slow down the boat. We have a lot of it down south, it can be a problem just have to work your way through it. Also saw a lot of what we call lizards tail….great duck food

@@DuckGunChronicles swamp rubber are actually OK. I burnt the WOOD bushing up in vegetation in a marsh and got sick of cutting weeds out of the area where the shaft meets the prop. But in rocky or clean water the SPS are okay. They are fairly dependable unlike that surface drive you had.

Hit me up on FB. I’ll send you a quick tutorial on how to make your prop weedless. If you get a weedless prop you are going to give up a lot of thrust and speed.
