I don‘t know but this reminds me so much of King Ludwig 2nd from Bavaria, around 1880. He was a crazy fan and supporter of Richard Wagner and especially loved his opera Lohengrin, where it’s all about a swan 🦢 that is actually a little boy. Ludwig was gay, a dreamer, he lived in his own world and he even had a boat made for him that was designed as a swan, and he cruised around the lake (Starnberger See, near Munich) with it. He eventually was found dead in the lake one day, supposedly suicide. I don‘t know why no one ever mentions this story, it os psychologically so similar in many ways to Bourne‘s prince in his Swan Lake.

Mathew, can we at Theatre Royal Norwich do Swan lake. We could be baby Swans. What do you think Matt.?

Loved this unconventional take. Loved how Matthew took the dainty and feminine out of ballet and did something very innovative. Classical ballet is just too stale and it shouldn't be.
