Swan Song Trailer

Swan Song, a new feature documentary following the creation of Karen Kain's farewell production of Swan Lake, premieres September 9 @tiff_net. The film will open in theatres across Canada, starting with @tiff_net Bell Lightbox on September 29. And an expanded four-part limited series will premiere on @CBC this November. Distributed by Blue Ice Docs in Canada, with international sales led by @Dogwoof

It’s on the webside of „arte“, a French-German TV channel. Do you have a VPN app? With a French or German IP address you should be able to watch it on „arte mediathek“

I could not disagree more with the writer who called Ontario’s ballet scene “boring and unimaginative”! Over the tenure of the supremely gifted Karen Kain, the National Ballet inaugurated many new, original, and very imaginative ballets: some set to the music of artists as diverse as Johnny Cash, Mick Jagger, and Joni Mitchell. The dancers brought other art forms to life on the stage: ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’ one of the memorable ones - but other works of literature translated to the dance stage as well. ‘Alice in Wonderland’ … ‘Cinderella’ … familiar fairytales come to vibrant and colourful life through the dancer’s clever and humorous interpretations. This coming season will see a version of Mme. Bovary on stage. ‘Frame by Frame’ was a brilliant tribute to one of our pre-eminent Canadian film-makers. And I mention only a few of the National’s productions of the last few seasons. “Boring”? “Unimaginative”? I think NOT!

Ontario's ballet scene is very boring and unimaginative, it's either swan song or nutcracker or sleeping beauty, along with 2-4 other smaller productions every year. Please do better, I mean, for the price that I'm paying, the quality of the production is uncomparable to Europe's ballet scene.
